Editorial Reviews (supplied by Amazon.com):

1) Product Description
Now in its Ninth Edition, Abnormal Psychology gives students the opportunity to explore the latest theories and research in our ever-changing search for answers to the complex questions of psychopathology. The authors invite students to search for clues, follow-up on hunches, evaluate evidence, and participate in a process of discovery as they sift through the evidence on the origins of psychopathology and the effectiveness of specific interventions. In the new edition, Davison and Neale welcome new coauthor Ann Kring (University of California, Berkeley), who brings her interest and expertise in emotion and psychopathology, as well as an emphasis on gender, ethnicity, and culture. In addition, new pedagogy and a more open layout make the book more accessible to all students.

Customer Reviews (supplied by Amazon.com):
Average Customer Rating: 3.0 out of 5

1) Excellent and easy to read   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
As the college instructor who chose this textbook, I find this book to be one of the most enjoyed by my students. They find it easy to read, interesting, and informative. The study guide makes the wide subject area easy to comprehend. While both books are expensive, if you are a student of psychology, these are almost "Must Haves".

2) Weak format for a subject with a lot of detail   [Rating: 1 out of 5]
Most textbooks will have the glossary terms on the sides of the pages for you to have the opportunity to read the definition there as well as within the text. This textbook doesn't do that. They have the whole glossary at the end but that's not real helpful at all for taking notes. The subject itself is confusing with multiple paradigms to approaching the same disorders and so many disorders within the field of Abnormal Psychology. Your not going to get around that but that's all the more reason to get a good textbook that presents the info as clearly as possible. This textbook goes over all the disorders towards the beggining then again later in greater detail, that was a real waste of time and paper. Some subjects in school can be boring and sometimes the teachers can make it more boring, well this subject has a lot of variety of info to learn and the authors make it harder than it has to be.
