Such a simple idea--yet so fiendishly complex in the execution. 24, as surely everyone knows by now, is a thriller that takes places over 24 hours, midnight to midnight, in 24 one-hour episodes (well, 45-minute episodes if you subtract the commercials). Everything takes place in real time, which means no flashbacks, no flash-forwards, no handy time-dissolves. Every strand of the plot has to be dovetailed and interlocked so things happen just when they should, in the right amount of time. Not that easy. Creator Robert Cochran and his team of writers and directors have done an impressive job of putting the jigsaw together and keeping the tension ratcheted up high, as federal agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) runs around L.A. trying to stall an assassination attempt on an African American presidential candidate and rescue his wife and daughter from the clutches of the Balkan baddies. Twists, turns, revelations, and cliffhangers are tossed at us with satisfying regularity. It's not perfect: we get some hokey plot devices (instant amnesia, anybody?); the final twist makes no sense whatsoever; there are altogether too many huggy family moments; and as for Dennis Hopper's "Serbian" accent.... Even so, this is undeniably mold-breaking TV. Sutherland, rescuing his career from the doldrums in one heroic leap, fully deserves his Golden Globe. Sets and locations are artfully deployed, and Sean Callery's score is a powerful, brooding presence. Like Murder One and The Sopranos, 24 is one of those series that future TV thrillers will be measured against. --Philip Kemp

1) Awesome!!!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I watched season 1 of 24 and I have to say I could breathe for the last 3 episodes especially. There are so many twists and turns and the end leaves you shocked and wanting more. I can't wait to get my hands on season 2.

2) Great Program. Now you can see how it all began.   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
The problem with a program like 24 is you can't watch it out of sequence. Each episode represents one hour on a certain day and one season represents one day. I believe the current season is Day 6. I had seen some episodes in reruns but the network broadcasting them didn't show them in order so, needless to say, they were confusing. This is an exciting and entertaining series. You better have plenty of room on your hardrive and a high speed connection because the download is 24 episodes close to one Gig each. You will need at least 24 gigabytes available to store these. You might be better off with the set in DVD form just for practical reasons. Whatever form you get I think you will enjoy the series. When I finish season one, I plan to get season 2. But I will be looking at the dvd sets rather than the download.

3) Great Show, but when's the release date?   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Anyone who hasn't seen it, just wait for the dvd. A mind-blowing experience from "hour to hour." Jack Bauer is one of the best conflicted hero's I've seen in quite some time...

4) 24   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Releasing 24 on DVD would be the best decision ever! Many people didn't watch 24 because not a lot of people knew about it in the beginning and it's hard to pick up in the middle of the season, releasing 24 on DVD would definately give 24 a second change and the popularity it deserves! 24 gave a new meaning to television and stood out from the boring mass-produced sit-coms. 24 had so much more than just what you see on the surface after watching an episode. Watching an episode again, you discover many things you miss the first time, much like a good movie. 24 is more like a movie than a TV show, you can see the effort put into making the show, rather than most TV shows, which don't have the same feeling (though i'm sure everyone works very hard on those shows to, blah, blah, etc.) Releasing 24 on DVD would give fans a way to experience 24 again, now that the season is over and would give ould be fans, people that maybe missed the first couple of episodes and found it too hard to pick up after missing those episodes, to experience a show that will hopefully change the face of television and give shows a meaning, not just cheap laughs.

5) Ambitious TV on a grand scale   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
It's only 11am, so far, for 24 over here in the UK.... I tip my hat to fox for having the [guts] to sanction and keep faith with this show.It is brilliant TV considering the restrictions of a TV production budget. But it goes to show that with good script writing, cutting edge dialogue with all the risks involved, you can produce a damn fine show. When this comes out on DVD (rumour has it August 18th 2002) I'll be making a purchase. In the meantime I just have to avoid any spoiler information from the web concerning the show.If you haven't been watching 24......just what exactly have you been doing?? GET A LIFE and introduce 24 to your life!!
