"Inside of me there's a thin woman trying to get out," complains the ever-suffering Edina. "Are you sure it's just the one, dear?" asks her mother. When anyone raves about Sex and the City, you need only to remind her that the Brits did it first--and better--with the creation of the brave say-anything show about sex, drugs, and the battle of the bulge. Absolutely Fabulous is a groundbreaking, off-the-wall comedy from the early 1990s, which began with a skit from The French and Saunders Show, about a moral, uptight daughter and her extremely loose mother. Ab Fab has taken this to the extreme. Edina (Jennifer Saunders) is the queen of excess. Her clothes are outrageous, her attempts at weight loss comical, and her efforts at motherhood (her daughter, Saffron--played to perfection by Julia Sawalha--is a practical-minded, reliable teenager) are uneven at best. Eddy's best friend is Patsy, a promiscuous Ivana Trump look-alike who always has a cigarette between her lips, a drink in her hand, and a fine-looking man (or boy) in her bed. The entire show lasted for three seasons, and all are included in this set. From organizing an orgy to a brush with poverty to the death of Eddy's father, nothing--and we mean nothing--is sacred in this show. Without a doubt, Ab Fab is one of the greatest television satires created, although keep in mind that it's strictly for adults. --Jenny Brown

Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5

1) Flawless and funny!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Why they took this show off the air is beyond me. These two women are hysterical and a credit to English Comedy!

2) ABFAB Collections worth buying   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I received the box collection 1-3, and 2 separate discs sets for series 4 and 5; and they are all my favorite dvds. i watch them every nite at bedtime. It appears only series 5 set has english subtitles and not the other series. As well as commentaries available on perhaps series 4, but not all of them. It is the must have for collections of highly educated people. If you like hilarious crass them you'll love ABFAB.

3) Well worth the money   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I bought this set a couple of weeks ago and just finished getting through it. It is well worth the money. You won't be sorry you bought it. Funny as it gets.

4) Some good raunchy fun to watch   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Look out "Sluts in the City!", The Brits have beat you to the punch and did a much better job to boot! If you want to see some outstanding satire of the loony fringes of society. I can safely recommend this for your consideration. Its pricey but worth it.

5) Pass the Vodka and let me watch!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I've waited for this complete version. I didn't buy the previous sets because I knew this baby was going to come along eventually. And, darling, it's FAB!! All eppys are here with extras to make you howl with laughter. Watching the show progress from it's early days through the last year is amazing in itself. There are plenty of extra features (How to Be Ab Fab is one) and photos on each disk. Out takes are a riot; and the commentaries brilliant.Season 5 doesn't appear here, but that's more than ok. I personally love the earlier stuff anyway (the India trip is my fave) and can wait to buy that series later. I can't wait to have my first AB FAB DVD party!!!
