Another cracked animated series from the Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" programming block, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Volume One's blend of superhero action and skewed humor should provide plenty of nourishment to fans of offbeat animation. The Aqua Teen Hunger Force are a squabbling trio of fast-food items (milkshake, fries, and a ball of hamburger meat) that have joined together to fight a host of monsters, aliens, and mad scientists in their native New Jersey. Fans of traditional cartoons may find the surreal plotlines and low-fi animation unmanageable, but viewers who enjoy other Adult Swim programming like Space Ghost Coast to Coast (series creators Chris Willis and Matt Maiellaro are veterans from that show) will find the Force's adventures side-splitting. The two-disc set, which features 16 episodes from the series' first two seasons, is supplemented by commentary by Willis and Maiellaro on three episodes, including an early version of "Rabbot." Disc 2 has a pair of Easter eggs that feature deleted scenes. --Paul Gaita2) Description
Watch Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad, three people-sized food products in the throes of adolescence, solve mysteries and swim in their neighbor's pool.

1) There's no carnival in the freezer! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Possibly my favorite volume of ATHF. Great for anyone who loves totally random, ridiculous humor.2) Fresh and Original-- the beginning of a great series [Rating: 5 out of 5]
While it took until volume 2 to really develop the personalities, there is something uniquely special about volume 1 of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It may be that the animation is the crappiest (anybody else find the animation funny when compared to the newer, more "improved" textures?)Or it may just be that volume 1 is at hits heart a completely fresh, and genuine piece of humor. Some of the best episodes to date are found here. My personal favorites on this volume are "Dumber Dolls" and "Old Drippy," but "Escape from Leprechaupolis" and "Bus of the Undead" are close rivals. Volume 1 will forever be a noted member of my ATHF collection, and while the series consistently got better with just about every volume, it is all the better if you watch if from the beginning.3) Absolutely hilarious [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I stumbled across this show when I was in college and one of my roommates was a fan of the show, and usually I don't watch TV, but this show really caught my eye (which, I'm pretty sure Adult Swim is marketed towards). I tend to love absolutely random humor, and I thought that was expertly displayed in Aqua Teen Hunger Force. After seeing just one episode I was hooked and I started watching it with my friend frequently. I obviously went to the next level and own all the DVD's as well, the show was that good to me!Each episode is very short, about twelve minutes or so, but the amount they cram into that short period of time is very impressive. It sort of reminded me of the old Garfield and Friends show, where each episode was broken up into separate story line segments, but rather than write 3 episodes to fill a half hour block, they just have one episode. An interesting thing in this attention deficit disordered universe we seem to be going into. Why only four stars though? Because I thought some of the episodes were sort of weak, especially the first episode. The show developed into something far more random as time went on, but the first episode was somewhat "serious". Though, I will say it did have it's moments thanks to comments made by Mastah Shake. I also didn't find the episode "PDA" as hilarious as the others. The episodes that really shined for me were the ones with the Plutonians. I thought those were absolutely hilarious, but where I didn't find every episode hilarious (like in other volumes), I thought I would bring it down a star. Though this was a first attempt at a new show, and you can see that it didn't really have a fully developed concept just yet, but as the season goes on you get a much better writing direction that is more solid. If you have a twisted or dark sense of humor this a must see show. Especially if you combine that sense of humor with sheer absurdity, then this show will have you in hysterics.4) Great Oddball Humor [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a show on Cartoon Network about a group of 3 things - Frylock, a container of frys, Master Shake - a shake, and Meatwad - a wad of meat. This trio of foods gets in all sorts of trouble involving intergalactic aliens, lepercauns, robots, and anything else you can imagine.Volume 1 of the DVD includes many extra features including the origin of the show, originally from the show Space Ghost: Ghost to Coast. It is a 2-disc set that has about 12 episodes, each one running only 10 minutes. Personally, I love ATHF, although I understand why people wouldnj't like it. It is a pretty odd cartoon but I enjoy it in small servings. They recently had a movie released, which was actually very good. Overall I highly recommend this DVD if you are a fan of Adult Swim TV shows or if you've seen it before.5) the greast dvd [Rating: 5 out of 5]
