Boy Meets World joined the ABC network's successful "TGIF" lineup in 1993, and instantly distinguished itself from the dewy-eyed hokum that passes for much family viewing with its relative sophistication, emotional complexity, and smart, stylish dialogue. In a way, Boy Meets World, starring Ben Savage, picked up where ABC's The Wonder Years (1988-1993), featuring older brother Fred Savage, left off. Both shows looked at the world from the point of view of largely unformed and untested boys as they faced dilemmas concerning love, loyalty, and ethics within their families, among friends, and at school. But where The Wonder Years was an arch and poignant series with nostalgic, grown-up appeal--and which had a young hero often at a loss for words--BMW looked more like a broader, conventional sitcom where chatter never ceased. The show was and is more easily taken for granted, but its unusual gracefulness and wit can't be denied after a couple of viewings. Boy Meets World lasted seven seasons, and one of the real pleasures of following the series is that its story and character changes are largely organic, rather than forced by cast departures or other pressures. Thus the auspicious first meeting of Savage's 11-year-old Cory Matthews and his classmate Topanga (Danielle Fishel) in season 1 leads, quite sweetly and logically, to a deeper relationship in subsequent seasons. Cory's attachment to his formidable yet compassionate 6th-grade teacher, Mr. Feeny (William Daniels in a tailor-made performance), who also happens to be Cory's neighbor, grows and deepens as Feeny eventually becomes the principal at Cory's high school and a mentor beyond. Season 1 also introduces Cory's likeable father (William Russ), a grocery store manager, and mother (Betsy Randle), a homemaker and realtor, as well as appealing siblings Eric (Will Friedle) and Morgan (Lindsay Ridgeway) and best friend Shawn (Rider Strong). A slightly surreal tone (a little similar to Family Ties) keeps the jokes coming, but BMW is at its most touching when Cory's awareness of and empathy for the needs of others expands. --Tom Keogh2) Description

1) Problems to view it [Rating: 3 out of 5]
I live in Mexico and I have a multiregion DVD Player but I can not see this DVD on the DVD Player.. I have to see it in my computer. The series is so much fun but it does not include Extra Material or a comentary of the actors.2) I now remember why I love this show so much! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I received the first season of Boy Meets World as a birthday gift from my brother. He got it for me because (a) I love to collect TV series on DVD, and (b) Boy Meets World was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I held off watching the DVD set mainly because it had been years since I've seen the first season and while it was my favorite show as a kid, I assumed it would be really cheasy and corny now.My husband and I finally got around to watching it, and we were BOTH very pleasantly surprised! Sure, it had its cheasy moments, but overall the series was very funny and entertaining... even for two adults!Yesterday we finished the season and now I'm buying seasons Two and Three. I was sad to hear that seasons 4-7 will not be coming to DVD because of a drop in sales (saw this when my husband "wiki'ed" the show). They don't make shows like this anymore!3) boy meets world petition [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Remember back when Boy Meets World was part of your daily life? When you sat and laughed through seven seasons with Cory, Topanga, Shawn, Eric, and Mr. Feeny? We were there in the beginning, when they were 6th grade, to the end, when they separated off on their own. Weren't you sad when the season ended and it wasn't on DVD or VHS for that matter. The first three seasons of this classic series has been released but when Buena Vista Home Entertainment saw that the sales were dropping they discontinued the DVD releases. Many of us like to wait until every season is released and buy them in a bundled boxset. Because of the low sales, we might not see seasons 4-7.Please sign this petition if you want Buena Vista Home Entertainment to release a boxset for Boy Meets World: Seasons 1-7 (Complete). If the set actually comes out, kindly purchase it so they actually realize how many fans there are.Spread the word!! Just tell 2 people and tell them to do the same, at that rate there will be hundreds and thousands in no time.4) Boy Meets World: One of the Greatest shows made [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Boy Meets World (BMW) first aired in the early ninties, and it stayed on the air about 10 years. Boy Meets world first appealed to elementary school children and tweens, but as the show stayed on the air, the writers very wisely changed the characters to be age appropriate. Issues talked about in the first few seasons were honestly, friendship and loyalty. As the Cory, Shawn and Topanga grew up, so did there problems. In Middle School and Highschool issues with Cults, God, abuse and Death became very real. The dilemas in college were more intense yet. Focusing on issues like adoption, Co-ed living, Sex, Alcohol, marriage and true love. The creators kept the show fresh by shedding some early characters: Minkus, Mr. Turner and added "Fresh Meat" with Jack, Angela, and Rachel. Although, through it all, Mr. Feeny remains the wise Grandfatherly figure to Cory, Shawn and Topanga, and Mr. Matthews (Cory's Dad) is seen a Hardworking, Devoted Father to his wife and family and all of Cory's friends.I'm 22 years old now, and looking back, I'm glad I watched this show instead of others that were on TV at the time. This show grew up with it's viewers and rewarded it's fans with simple lessons to help them along their way. "Class Dismissed"5) QUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All 158 episodes of Boy Meets World are available at tvdvdplanet.comI AM SO HAPPY!I think that's pretty good for seven (nine?) seasons of one of the funniest shows ever. PS. I only rated this 1 star because i HATE the first 3-4 seasons.I love when Jack and Angela and Rachel come in!
