Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) looks like your typical perky high-schooler, and like most, she has her secret fears and anxieties. However, while most teens are worrying about their next date, their next zit, or their next term paper, Buffy's angsting over the next vampire she has to slay. See, Buffy, a young woman with superhuman strength, is the "chosen one," and she must help rid the world of evil, namely by staking demons. The exceptional first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer introduces us to the treacherous world of Sunnydale High School (where Buffy moved after torching her previous high school's gym). The characters there include "watcher" Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) and the original "Scooby Gang" members--friendly geek Xander (Nicholas Brendon), computer whiz Willow (Alyson Hannigan), and snobbish popular girl Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter)--who aid Buffy in her quest. The second season took the romance between Buffy and hunky Angel (David Boreanaz) from ecstasy to agony in a now-classic plot arc that catapulted the show from WB teen drama to true TV greatness. You see, if the cursed Angel ever experiences true happiness for a moment, he'll revert to being an evil vampire again. Buffy found its true momentum during the second season, as Xander fell in love with Cordelia, Willow gave up her crush on Xander in favor of werewolf boy Oz (Seth Green), and watcher Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) began a sweetly tentative relationship with computer teacher (and witch) Jenny Calendar (Robia LaMorte). Mayhem came to Sunnydale, though, in the form of evil vampires Drusilla (Juliet Landau) and Spike (drolly wicked James Marsters), who were more than ready to aid and abet Angel as he turned bad. The third season was marked by the arrival in Sunnydale of renegade slayer Faith (Eliza Dushku), a moody loner who seemed to like her demon-staking calling just a little too much. While Buffy was always wary of Faith, the two developed a deep friendship and appreciative rapport--that is, until the evil mayor of Sunnydale (Harry Groener) tapped into Faith's dark side and lured her into his plot to take over the world, first as a double agent spying on Buffy, then as out-and-out nemesis. And as the mayor's ascension approached--which happened to fall on Sunnydale High's graduation day--Buffy and Faith's battles got nastier and nastier, as Buffy attempted to wrestle with her dark side (literally and figuratively), save the world and her friends, and keep her lover Angel out of Faith's evil clutches. Chock-full of exceptional episodes, the third season started out with a bang (the superb season opener "Anne," in which a runaway Buffy finally returns to her Slayer calling) and never let up.Buffy truly hit its golden years in the fourth season--just when you thought this show couldn't get any better, Joss Whedon and his creative team pulled out all the stops and took Buffy and co. into rich new territory. By far, the highlight of the season (and the entire series) was the Emmy-nominated "Hush," a nearly dialogue-free episode in which the creepy "Gentlemen" rob Sunnydale of its collective voice, and Buffy and Riley finally come face to face with each other's hidden identities. Throughout, the entire cast, headed by the unparalleled Sarah Michelle Gellar, worked television magic of the kind rarely seen on the small screen. This is Buffy at its best. --Mark Englehart

1) Buy The Complete Series Set Instead! It Has Seasons 1 -7 [Rating: 1 out of 5]
Buffy The Vampire Slayer is an awesome show but it's ridiculous to buy this set that only has seasons 1 - 4 when you can buy the set that has the complete seasons?Yes that's right, there is a new set that has seasons 1-7 which is the complere series so if you don't own any seasons of Buffy yet wouldn't it be smarter to buy the set that has it all?2) Gotta have it, Just GOTTA have it ;) [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Buffy the vampire slayer... the name in it self has a nice "si fi" ring to it. I don't know how many times I have heard people think its silly, on the name alone. "A show about a girl who kills vampires, how stupid is that?" My reply is: don't knock Buffy. She might very well surprise you. From the very first ep I watched (at a tender age of 14) I was hooked. I knew that there was something there. Oh yes.This is the first 4 seasons of Buffy tVS on DVD, the very first 78 delicious episodes for you to take in and enjoy. (and lovely extras). Season 1: introduces us to Buffy, as she and her mother, Joyce moves to the town of Sunnydale, Where they try to start over. Once she is in school we are quickly introduce to the additional characters; the popular Cordelia, and the best friends; Xander and willow, And of course; Buffy's watcher Giles, who is also the school librarian . They become the Scooby gang. We also meet Angel. In this season we learn about Buffy and her destiny; as a slayer. We watch as she makes new friends and enemies, and as she fights the big bads that crawl and walk the streets of Sunnydale. Season 2: In this season there is a lot of focus on the love of Angel and Buffy. And we meet Spike and Drusilla. 2 vampires in love (yes it is as scary as it sounds). And there is a love interest brought in for the shy, willow. Oz, who's smart, is in a band, and just happens to be a werewolf. There is also a second slayer introduced to us: Kendra. Season 3: This is the Scooby gangs last year in high school, with all the stress that contains. The mayor of Sunnydale plays a big part of this season, so does the new slayer in town, Faith. Faith is a handful. And both aids the Scooby's as well as give them plenty of heartache. A new character Anya show up (she doesn't really have a huge role until season 4, but her appearance started in season 3) Season 4: make or break season. Angel and Cordelia are gone. (They both star in the spin-off series: angel) The first year their not in high school, they have moved on. And what will happen to them? They have now started college (willow and Buffy at least), while Xander and his Anya does other things. A new Guy is brought in: Riley a teacher's assistant for a psychology professor and a military man for a secret operation. Something called "the Initiative". This season is also full of FUNNY moments (not that the others seasons aren't funny, cause they also have plenty of hilarity) Truly a show to watch, you don't want to miss this, I promise. And it's truly worth the money. And buying the seasons like this... you even save a lot of money.3) The Best Seasons of Buffy at a Bargain Price [Rating: 5 out of 5]

If you are a Buffy fan, these are a must see dvd collection. But what's with the price? I was on Amazon last night (12/7) and they were $115, now they're a whole lot more. Shame on you, Amazon.5) Great buy!! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
It's cheaper again! Buy it while you can. I don't like the way the price keeps going up and down on this. They should leave it at $115.
