1) The Best Show EVER [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is the Best Show Ever Made in my own opinion, but many will agree with me. I have All 7 Seasons DVD and all 5 Seasons of Angel - the follow up Awesome Show as well. The Writers are the best in making the Best show Ever made.2) Television Perfection [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I've watched this show from episode one to the finale enough times to say with complete confidence that "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is by far and away the best televised series that I have ever been lucky enough to experience. Creator Joss Whedon weaves complex themes and an intelligent story through out the seven seasons of his show, keeping the episodes simple enough for anyone to enjoy, but maintaining a complexity beneath the surface that is beautiful when it is uncovered."Buffy" isn't one of those shows you tune in to every now and then. This story of an incredible young woman and her equally incredible friends is a life changing story. Because you can see yourself in the characters, they stick with you, latch on to a part of your heart so hard that you won't even want to pry them off. From Buffy herself, to geeky Xander, bookish Willow, snobby Cordelia, soulful Angel, badass Spike, stoic Oz, sarcastic Anya, quiet Tara, manly Riley, to the nerd Andrew, these characters become part of your life. If the beautiful character development didn't get you, either the perfect dialogue that every sane writer should aspire to write or the incredible plot twists (Angel loses his soul, Buffy's sacrifice in "The Gift" etc) will lure any reluctant viewer in.As with any show, there are weaker episodes ("Beer Bad;" "Doublemeat Palace;" and a few Season One episodes) but the entire arc of the series is just so flawless that beauty can even be found in the lesser episodes. But even if you can't the sheer strength of Joss's storytelling will gloss over the imperfections of the rare flop-episode. The show was always kept fresh, because the writers simply refused to do the same thing twice. Even though it ran for one hundred and forty-four episodes, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"--unlike ANY other long running mythology show--always kept its audience enthralled and entertained. Lesser series had me looking at the clock, wondering when the damn plot would unfold, but "Buffy" left me saddened every time an episode ended.[..]. The expanded universe (the "Angel" spin-off, the official continuation of the show via comics, as well as the original comic series, the novels, the figures, the games) is nearly as entertaining as the series itself, but if you really want to commit yourself to seven seasons of the best show to ever grace the small screen, pick up "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." It will change your life.10/10 Classic (...and beyond)3) In every generation, there is a chosen one... [Rating: 5 out of 5]
The first ever episode that I attempted to watch of Buffy was Buffy vs. Dracula - I changed the channel within five minutes. My thinking was that that little blonde girl would never believably get the better of Dracula. However, one of my friends could not stop going on about how brilliant it was. Her exact quote was that it was "Twin Peaks good" (in our language that means it's exceptional). Therefore, I gave it another go and watched the first and second seasons back to back over a weekend. The first season was not in any way startling, but it intrigued me enough to carry on watching. Needless to say, as soon as I saw Spike crash his car into the Sunnydale sign, I was hooked.Buffy is a fantastic, well-written show (Joss Whedon may just be one of the best screenwriters out there) that is filled with brilliant and diverse characters. Apart from the main Scoobies, (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Willow the Witch, Giles the Watcher and Xander the funny one with no powers) you also have OZ the stoic werewolf and Anya the ex vengeance demon, with a very literal turn of phrase. However, my favourite character is Spike, the punk vampire who has killed two vampire slayers and threatens to do evil deeds but is never that successful. In addition, Spike always manages to turn up in time to make insightful suggestions or to make good guys feel better about themselves despite his evil nature (and to put a girly point on it - the man just oozes sex). All of these characters enrich the show with their very unique sense of humour. Futhermore, their relationships with other characters in the show are as compelling as they are heartbreaking. Each season has its share of fantastic, groundbreaking episodes. Hush, in season four is an almost completely silent episode while the all-singing, all-dancing episode - Once more with feeling adds some spice to season six. Artistically, it should have ended after Season Five when Buffy dies by throwing herself by into a force field of mystical energy to save her sister's life, but who cares about art. Would you have really missed out on Evil Willow or the Spike/Buffy relationship?I have a few issues with the way it ended. Firstly, it got a bit too bleak and depressing in Season Seven. They killed off Spike (but it's Ok he turns up in Angel Season Five so I can just about live with that). Moreover, the way Anya dies - that girl deserved a better death after putting up with non-committal Xander all those years. Nevertheless, the last season did have its moments, the graphics in season finale are amazing and the RJ obsessed episode was one of the funniest Buffy episodes ever (the image of Spike stopping Buffy from killing the Principal Wood with a rocket-launcher is hilarious).Yeah, you may argue that Buffy and Angel banging on about how they can't truly love each other can get annoying at times but it does not alter the fact that Buffy is best teenage drama ever shown on our screens and I wasn't even a teenager when I started watching it!!!4) great! i am very satisfied with this product. it didnt take forever to get to me and it was eactly what i asked for. i just cant wait to watch the movies. it was a bit pricey but well worth it.5) THE BEST TV SHOW EVER MADE [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Suspend your normal day activities and beliefs for just a few hours and go where no one has gone before - don't miss Buffy!
