The sixth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer followed the logic of plot and character development into some gloomy places. The year begins with Buffy being raised from the dead by the friends who miss her, but who fail to understand that a sacrifice taken back is a sacrifice negated. Dragged out of what she believes to have been heavenly bliss, she finds herself "going through the motions" and entering into a relationship with the evil, besotted vampire Spike just to force her emotions. Willow becomes ever more caught up in the temptations of magic; Xander and Anya move towards marriage without ever discussing their reservations; Giles feels he is standing in the way of Buffy's adult independence; Dawn feels neglected. What none of them need is a menace that is, at this point, simply annoying--three high school contemporaries who have turned their hand to magical and high-tech villainy. Added to this is a hungry ghost, an invisibility ray, an amnesia spell and a song-and-dance demon (who acts as rationale for the incomparable musical episode "Once More, with Feeling"). This is a year in which chickens come home to roost: everything from the villainy of the three geeks to Xander's doubts about marriage come to a head, often--as in the case of the impressive wedding episode--through wildly dark humor. The estrangement of the characters from each other--a well-observed portrait of what happens to college pals in their early 20s--comes to a shocking head with the death of a major character and that death's apocalyptic consequences. The series ends on a consoling note which it has, by that point and in spite of imperfections, entirely earned. --Roz Kaveney

2) Description
Elated with having Buffy back from the dead, her friends never wonder if she may have been in a better place. Only Spike knows the truth and as Buffy struggles to readjust to life, she begins a relationship with Spike that torments her as much as it brings her fleeting comfort. Yet even as Buffy fears that the magic that brought her back has somehow changed her, Willow's growing reliance on magic is an addiction she can barely control - and one that threatens everyone.

Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5

1) Cancelled twice by 2 networks not a good buy or watch   [Rating: 1 out of 5]
Buffy was another show that started out hot but soon lost its way and eventually was cancelled not once but twice by 2 different networks. The show had awful plots, terrible acting and just plain bad. Sarah Michelle Gellar was the only saving grace but im sure she saw the writing on the wall here. Dont waste your money on this collection it will bore you to tears and it will be hours of your life youll never get back

2) Transitions are not always smooth   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is, in my opinion, the darkest season. The characters each face the worst in themselves and none of them do it well. If you like your heros to be human, with flaws and foibles, then this season will satisfy. Me, I like to see faceted characters. I will confess that when I first watched this season on television with my then adolescent son sitting next to me some of the scenes were a little too intense for my comfort. Even shocking. Especially when I recall that BtVS came on at 8pm. As for the overall story arch, it is clear that this season is meant to lead into the next and ultimately final season. Not necessarily the best season but interesting and intense and superior to most of the fluff you see on network television today.

3) Buffy Rocks My Socks   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I have nothing bad to say about Buffy every season brings me back wanting more of the blonde haired demon slayer.

4) The Slim Set is much cheaper   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Anyone thinking of ordering this should consider Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Sixth Season (Slim Set) instead. The discs are exactly the same and the only difference is that the DVD packaging is a Slim Set. Slim Sets are thin cases (about half the width of a regular DVD) that don't contain the booklets you usually get with DVDs. Those bargain DVDs you see for $5 at the store are usually sold in slim sets. Otherwise, you are paying way too much for this product. If you're trying to get the entire series of Buffy, go with Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Collector's Set (40 discs)

5) all good things come to an end.   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I still miss this show. Okay, earlier seasons were more fun, but that's life. The characters were younger and just figuring life out. Now they're adults. Okay, they're adults living on the hellmouth but still... I wasn't a big fan of the final espisode but considering that SMG wanted to pursue other projects, the network change, the adult figures in Buffy's life weren't around anymore, the Scooby Gang are now adults and they're still fighting demons on top of that?! Give the writers, cast and crew a break. All shows get stale with time but "Buffy" was still entertaining. Dark? Yes. Sad? Yes. Stil wickedly funny? Yes. It was a good end to a great series. BRAVO. BRAVA.
