A no-brainer that has become a low-brow classic, this 1980 comedy makes anarchy the rule of the day, unleashing the antics of Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight, and Chevy Chase. Caddyshack is about the scheme of a vulgar land developer (Dangerfield) who wants to build condominiums on the site of a ritzy country club. Director Harold Ramis (who later reunited with Murray to make Groundhog Day) is content to let the comedy follow a variety of wacky detours, most notably Murray's maniacal war with a gopher that has been digging up the golf course. Dangerfield ultimately steals the show, firing off a battery of one-liners, insults, and tasteless gags. Caddyshack is the kind of movie some people have been known to watch several times a year, reciting every line of dialogue like the followers of a bizarre comedic ritual. --Jeff Shannon

2) Description
The greenskeeper is about to start World War III - against a gopher. The judge plays to win but his nubile niece has her mind set on scoring her own way. The playboy shoots perfect golf by pretending he is the ball. And the country club loudmouth just doubled a $20,000 bet on a 10-foot putt. Insanity? No. Caddyshack. Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight and Bill Murray tee off for a side-splitting round of fairway foolishness that does for golf what Animal House did for college fraternities and Police Academy did for law enforcement.

1) Caddy Shack   [Rating: 3 out of 5]
The product was great I ordered it for a Christmas present for my husband along with some other movies and he loves it. The only problem was I used the supersaver shipping and it was supposed to get here before Christmas. Keep in mind I ordered it almost a month before Christmas so I figured it had plenty of time to get shipped. Anyway, after a few weeks and I still hadn't recieved a shipping notice so I called Amazon turns out they tell me I have to pay an extra $30 to get it by Christmas. If not it wouldn't be shipped out until January!! So I pay the extra $30 and it ends up getting shipped out the next day. It arrived a few days before Christmas but if I hadn't paid more then I wouldn't have received them on time.

2) If you own an HD DVD player, get that version instead   [Rating: 2 out of 5]
5 stars for the movie, 2 stars for this DVDThis movie is a classic, and one of my favorite comedies. The picture quality and sound are TERRIBLE on this DVD. Now, I realize that I do own an HDTV and an HD-DVD player, (which improves picture and sound, making imperfections more noticeable than a standard DVD player would), but still, this DVD sucks. The picture is grainy, with way too vibrant colors and way too much grain. The sound (especially on music) drops out frequently. The extras are stupid and pointless, not worth more than one viewing.I own this version as well as the HD DVD version, and that version makes a HUGE improvement on picture and sound from this release.BOTTOM LINE: If you own a VHS copy and/ or DVD release of this film, and own an HD DVD player, GET THE HD DVD RELEASE.If you don't own an HD DVD player, then this version is, sadly, the next best thing (if you own the previous DVD or a VHS copy, there is no need to buy this). This classic deserves MUCH better treatment on DVD than this.

5) Great Laughs   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Rodney Dangerfield plays the guy we all love and would love to work or drink with, and in truth probably played a role that was natural and close to his true personality. Ted Knight, on the other hand, plays the prick role of Judge Smails so well, that for years after I could not seperate Knight from his character and hated him on sight whenever he appeared on TV.Chevy Chase is great in supporting role as lazy playboy Ty Webb. Probably two dozen or more throwaway lines that have worked their way into America's lexicon. Comedy for those who love comedy.
