Charmed: The Complete Second Season finds San Francisco's favorite and fetching trio of witches, the Halliwell sisters, still battling supernatural forces while trying to make sense of their tricky personal lives. It has been a year since Prue (Shannen Doherty), Phoebe (Alyssan Milano), and Piper (Holly Marie Combs), were each endowed with a unique, magical ability after discovering the Book of Shadows in their attic, and while Phoebe and Piper are in the mood for celebrating, Prue is emotionally incapable of using her telekinetic gifts. Powerless to have saved her ex-lover, Andy Trudeau (Ted King), from death in season 1, Prue's grief prevents her from cooperating with her sisters in a battle against a demon who steals the all-important Book. That's just the beginning of the Halliwells' otherworldly troubles. The second season finds the sisters also taking on brain-zapping Warlocks, a Demon of Hate, a Darklighter who inspires thoughts of suicide among the living, evil witches, and--get this--the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who turn out to be quite dapper (albeit nasty) fellows. Meanwhile, Piper struggles to raise $60,000 to open a happening new club (at a site where two other clubs have failed) while also juggling romantic feelings for two guys, one a hunky new neighbor and the other last season's handyman character, Leo (Brian Krause), who turns out to be a Whitelighter (a kind of an angel). Prue's job at the art gallery gets a bit wobbly, and she gives unintentionally mixed signals to a very nice man who likes her a lot. Phoebe, for her part, is still in school and meets a handsome prospect at a dating service--then has to save him from a succubus (a female demon who seduces men and then kills them). Season highlights include the episode "She's a Man, Baby, a Man," in which Prue--due to a botched spell--becomes a man (a clever and funny performance by Doherty). In a reversal of Tootsie's feminist theme, Prue learns how to be a better woman for having a been a man, though a lot more repairs take place at the house while she's a he. "Animal Pragmatism" concerns yet another spell gone awry, this one turning a pig, a rabbit, and a snake into full-grown men with the characteristics of the creatures they were. The final show, "Be Careful What You Witch For," is a lot of fun, co-starring French Stewart as a genie who makes a lot of mischief at the same time the sisters are trying to put a Dragon Warlock in his place. --Tom Keogh

2) Description
In CHARMED, the three Halliwell sisters have accepted their destiny of protecting the innocent and vanquishing evil doers, even though that is generally not on the agenda of every twenty-something on the fast track to discovering what life's all about. Prue (Doherty), the oldest, is driven to succeed and dislikes the free-spirited antics of the youngest sister Phoebe (Milano). Piper (Combs), the earthy middle sister, mediates between her siblings. Prue has the power to move objects, Piper to freeze time and Phoebe to see the future. The sisters must band together to protect themselves, and the world, from the dark, demonic forces that seek to destroy them.

1) Great entertainment!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Great show and chemistry with all the actors. You'll get addicted in no time!

2) season 2   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
more of the same from season 1. Not much changed but it was such a good show to begin with that is a good thing

3) Getting hooked   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
It's amazing how a simple TV show that you didn't watch on TV the original time it was on, can get its claws into you so fast. Halfway through this, I ordered season 3 (which I won't be getting any time soon due to damn postal strikes in the UK!) I was quite literally watching two plus episodes a day, without getting fed up of it. And then I finished it, and I have nothing to watch now (apart from the backlog of movies that I've yet to watch!)Charmed is moving on from the first season, into what is normally a difficult second season, but manages it quite well. There's lots of interesting stories included in this, with Piper being torn between two guys, Leo & Dan, a new nightclub that Piper starts running, which leads the way for lots of bands to be on the show (but not many that were successful in the UK so I'd heard of them), Pru getting over Andy's death, and Phoebe starting college. Some of my favourite episodes include:Morality Bites where Phoebe has a premonition of herself in the future, getting burned at the stake. A really upsetting episode, which shows how the little things can affect the future. She's A Man, Baby, A Man! where Pru becomes a man due to a spell gone wrong, with hilarious consequences. It's hard to believe that they managed to make gorgeous Shannen into a man, but it is her.Awakened is an episode where Piper gets an amazing lead role for a change, and takes seriously ill. Cue lots of crying and an tear inducing appearance from Leo.Pardon My Past is the episode where Phoebe 'meets' some from her past, and travels back in time to deal with it. Going back to the twenties, leads to lovely outfits and hairstyles.Murphy's Luck is a episode about suicide, all centring round a Darklighter (the opposite to Leo) who's played by the bad guy from The Mummy movies, Arnold Vosloo. It doesn't end on a cliffhanger as such, which is a pity, but I just can't wait to get my hands on season 3. I also would love to have the girls' hairstylist and wardrobe. Phoebe's character still gets the best hairstyles, all braided etc, which unfortunately, I cannot recreate myself! Boo.An excellent season, getting better all the time, now I just season three. I'll need the tissues for that one.

4) Charmed Season 2   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
It's strange that these DVDs don't have english subtitles. Other than that the only thing missing are the extras! It's a shame they don't include bloopers or extra material.Great image quality as expected (not audio though). Charmed rocks!

5) Charming times 3!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is a great season! I'm also slowly working my way through the series, I just started watching reruns of Charmed this year. I loved season 1 and thought this was just as good. My fave episodes are P3 H20, Ex Librius, and Ms. Hellfire. That being said, all of the episodes were pretty great. I felt as if you got to know the sisters more, and their "real" lives were focused on more, or as much as their powers. I think it made the series more enjoyable and acessible for many viewers.
