Charmed: The Complete Third Season is a little different from its previous seasons in that the long-running series, for the first time, is dominated by a single story arc that affects nearly every episode. Actor Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck, Fantastic Four) joins the Charmed cast as Assistant District Attorney Cole Turner, who enters the show when he unsuccessfully prosecutes a demon-possessed killer who attacks the Halliwell sisters' police ally, Inspector Morris (Dorian Gregory). In short order, Cole becomes romantically involved with Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), but it's soon revealed that he's actually a demon, part of an unholy plot to destroy the Charmed Ones, i.e. the Halliwell sisters. Trouble is, Cole's human incarnation begins to battle with his demon self, and the rest of the season is really dedicated to the ramifications of his ambivalence. Even old issues on Charmed, such as the forbidden love of Piper (Holly Marie Combs) and Leo (Brian Krause), an angelic Whitelighter, become secondary to the Cole-Phoebe story. (The latter becomes supernatural when Phoebe's misery over Cole turns her into a shrieking Banshee and the pair meet up in the hellish Dark Side.) Season highlights include "Primrose Empath," in which Shannen Doherty gives a superb performance when her character, Prue Halliwell, takes on the powers of an empath and is soon overwhelmed by the emotional pain carried by scores of others. "Sleuthing with the Enemy" finds Prue and Piper, in the first of several such stories, working at opposite purposes from Phoebe, who is intent on saving Cole from capture or destruction. The clever and comic "Look Who's Barking" concerns a spell that turns Prue into a Banshee-tracking dog who gets hit by a car and briefly becomes the pet of a handsome, single man. Season finale "All Hell Breaks Loose" may be the best Charmed episode in its first three years, a scary and apocalyptic tale in which the powers of the Halliwell sisters, long kept secret, are revealed to an insatiable news media, the police and military, and dangerous crazies. Not to be missed. --Tom Keogh

2) Description
Protecting the innocent, vanquishing evil and evil doers, and generally righting wrongs are not exactly on the agenda of every twenty-something on the fast track to discovering what life's all about. But for the Halliwell sisters, this has become their destiny. Prue, the oldest, is driven to succeed and dislikes the free-spirited antics of the youngest sister Phoebe. Piper, the earthy middle sister, mediates between her siblings. Phoebe discovers The Book of Shadows in the attic and their witchly powers are activated, igniting a bond that reaches beyond petty, sisterly grudges. Prue has the power to move objects, Piper to freeze time and Phoebe to see the future. The sisters must band together to protect themselves, and the world, from the dark, demonic forces that seek to destroy them. It's an existence fraught with excitement and danger, but these three unique sisters wouldn't trade their "charmed" lives for anything.

1) funny show!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Great show and chemistry with all the actors. You'll get addicted in no time!

2) Gift   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This was given as a gift for a birthday. My foster daughter opened the package, got tears in her eyes and said, "I love you." This came from a girl who has been violent and aggressive for months since placement. She asked me how I knew she liked Charmed and I said, "all I had to do was listen."

3) I need to spread these out until the next season arrives!   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I seem to keep overdosing as it were on Charmed. Five episodes in a row one day, four the next, etc. It's worse when I'm off from work as well, I could easily watch too many, and lose track of time. And here I am, all finished, and I only just ordered season 4! When's that gonna get here? I'll probably have to wait another week minimum.Season three was definitely a good season, although with rumours of fighting behind the scenes, you'd expect there to be some sort of tension to show up on screen. But Holly, Shannen & Alyssa are great actresses, and if there was something wrong, it certainly didn't show up on screen, much to their credit. But did Shannen walk out, or was she actually fired? Cos the season finale is very confusing, and I've read that she doesn't appear in season four at all. If that's true, then it's a very disappointing end to the character and to a great actress. Plus, was it just me, or was there lots of hints throughout that someone was going to die? There's quite a few potential deaths which are saved just in time, some actual deaths, and lots of talk of the Power of Three. But I am looking forward to seeing Rose McGowan though. There are some terrific episodes in this. Some of them include:- Once Upon A Time: Prue & Phoebe get turned into little girls, including acting like it, but still in the same bodies. It's so funny!- All Halliwell's Eve: The girls get sent back in time, to save a baby from being born into evil, and discover something about their pasts, and also how the image of a witch riding her broomstick came about!- Wrestling With Demons: One of Prue's exes is in training to become a demon, and they have to stop him. Look out for Ron Perlman in this, looking reasonably normal, and unrecognisable from his Hellboy character. I wouldn't have realised who it was if it wasn't for the name popping up in the credits.- The Good The Bad & The Cursed: Prue & Cole, travel back in to the Old West, as Phoebe is somehow 'linked' with someone from then, which could be leading to her death.- PreWitched: An excellent episode, where Piper & Leo talk about getting their own place, leading to everyone recalling the 'good old days'. Cue some hilarious hairstyles, Piper in her school uniform, and how THAT photo came to be taken. It's a great series, but it is going to be disappointing for me to see the loss of Prue in the next series. I hope it comes soon!

4) If these girls were arguing behind scenes, I didn't catch the tension   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
These three actresses are the worlds greatest. Their chemistry was suburb. Not to mention, the plot. The charmed ones were working with the police force -- making it a sci-fi detective show. That's what I admired from the first three seasons that didn't really come back until seasons 7-8.I loved the tension with Cole--- and I really wish he would have lasted until the end of the series. The finale of this season never fails to leave me tearing.

5) My favorite season so far!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
It's funny, I never watched Charmed until it was canceled, and they started rerunning them on TNT. I got hooked fast and decided to watch season by season. I just finished with the 3rd, and I have to say that I loved it! The sisters get closer, their powers get stronger, and their love lives become much more complicated. My favorite episodes are the ones where Prue has a stalker, and when a little girl needs the sisters help to save a fairy, and of course when Piper and Leo get married. I actually cried when they got married, it was so romantic! If you're a fan of the Charmed Ones, this is a must buy.
