1) Product Description
TV's renowned home fitness star mixes exercises inspired by J.H. Pilates with yoga, creating two meditative, 20-minute workouts for people of all ages and fitness levels. Both sessions will relax your mind, harden your abs, strengthen your back, tighten your tummy and actually lengthen your body! The first is a Pilates-inspired workout designed to streamline your muscles without putting stress on your spine or adding bulk. The second is more challenging, interspersing Pilates-style exercises with yoga stretching - a natural combination that sculpts every muscle, increases flexibility and relaxes from head to toe. Give Denise 20 minutes a day, and she'll show you noticeable results in only three weeks!System Requirements:Produced and Directed byh Cal Pozo Color Approx. Denise Austin's Mat Workout presents two 20-minute workouts emphasizing flexibility, core strength, balance, and relaxation. Workout 1 is Pilates-based, focusing on the core muscles of the abdominals and back. Pilates-based workouts are heavily founded on technique and awareness, so Austin takes time to explain and demonstrate neutral pelvis, shoulder stability, breathing technique, and the muscles you'll be working. Then she takes you through a challenging Pilates-based workout focusing on trunk stability, which translates to a killer ab workout, offering modifications for beginners. Workout 2 includes both Pilates-based exercises and yoga postures, starting with the Sun Salutation and progressing to a variety of yoga poses that emphasize balance and flexibility and Pilates-based exercises that focus on core stability and strength. This is a softer Denise--quiet voice, subdued pace, tranquil feeling--a nice change from the frenetic pace and unrelenting chatter of many of Austin's videos. You'll be surprised by how demanding this workout is, because of the core stability and balance challenges. --Joan Price

1) Simply the best [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is what sets this video apart from the rest and this is why you MUST buy it: Denise pairs strength training with flexibility work. She has you contract the muscles and then relieves the tension with a looooooooong stretch immediately afterwards. This is far superior to the neck-crunching pilates workouts and the easier yoga workouts that don't seem to do enough strength work and it feels GREAT as you do it (so we're not just slogging through another workout).Buy it because it really works. This program is perfect if you're looking for something to do a couple times a week. It's low impact overall and you can pick and choose between the first video ("easier" imho) and the second (lots of core work). I can do this in the morning and feel the burn in the afternoon. If you're having an off day, do the easier versions of the exercise (Denise demonstrates). It's a very mellow and relaxed workout that incorporates breath, well-paced and you still work up a sweat! You feel great afterwards - looser, leaner, stronger, improved posture - that's enough incentive to do it a few times a week!I've been using it for years & nothing has come close to the quality workout this video gives. I always come back to this one.If you don't like her voice (it's not so bad), turn it down low and put on some music. Money well spent. Definitely add this one to your library.2) Best [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is video is a little old now but still my favorite. There are two workouts both about 20 minutes long combining both yoga and pilates. I have had three back sugeries and love the ease of the moves and the fact that I can do one workout in 20 minutes or both if I have more time. Excellent.3) I did not know Denise b4 I bought this [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I had know idea that this woman was so annoying. I loved the workout. The moves were great but after a few times I worked out with her on MUTE.4) Love it [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I already had this on VHS but wanted to upgrade to the DVD. I've always enjoyed her Pilates tape and would recommend Denise Austin to anyone. She's all I 'use'.5) My favorite pilates dvd - hands down [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I know, I know, there are those out there that just can't take Denise Austin. I am NOT one of those. I also bought Windsor Pilates and was not impressed with the monotone drill seargent-like instructor. Denise is encouraging in her special way. I love this dvd!! It is the one I always come back to for my pilates/yoga days. The workout is a great challenge for the beginner to intermediate. You WILL notice a difference in your core abdominal muscles within a few workouts. The dvd is comprised of two 20 minute routines. You can do just one or challenge yourself to both - I like that! I feel leaner and stronger; you will too. You should add this one to your fitness library; you will be glad you did.
