The sinuous world of 1950s Cuban dance halls provides the setting for Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, a "reimagining" that shares with the original movie a deep love of sexy young people pressed tightly together on the dance floor. Fresh from New England, bookish and lovely Katey (Romola Garai, adorable in the charming but little-seen I Capture the Castle) meets a fiery young busboy named Javier (Diego Luna, Y Tu Mama Tambien) at a snooty hotel. Before you can say Tito Puente, the two have found a common language in the sensual swaying of their limbs, despite the resistance of Katey's mother (Sela Ward). It's all ridiculous, of course--the dialogue is atrocious, the characters tortilla-thin, and the politics embarrassing--but that's hardly the point. Luna is dreamy, there's lots of sweaty dancing, and Patrick Swayze makes an appearance--what more can you ask from a movie called Dirty Dancing? --Bret Fetzer

Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5
1) Lame, lame, lame [Rating: 2 out of 5]
I was really hoping to enjoy this movie, really, I was. It was just so lame. The acting WAS horrible...it seemed forced among all actors. Their was NO chemistry between the main characters. Even the cameo with Patrick Swayze was ridiculous! He had no spirit in him. It was almost as if the writers wanted him to bring (tie in) these movies together. Ugh..maybe you should see it just to say you did, but rent it first before wasting your money on poor acting.BTW, if you are seeing it to see Swayze, he LOOKS horrible. His face lift makes him look, well, fake. It's just a bit too tight. He was extremely "fine" in the original DD.2) Not a Bad Sequel [Rating: 4 out of 5]
This was not too bad of a sequel. The dancing was good and it had a halfway decent story. I don't think it was quite as good as the original movie, not as memorable as far as performances, and probably won't become a phenomenon, but I liked it. I think the dancing was entertaining and the actors did a good job of portraying their characters. Not bad.3) Havannah Nights [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Very fast delivery despite Christmas rush. Thank you Amazon for always being there for me.4) the mexican who stole the white girl [Rating: 5 out of 5]
this movie was freaking awesome it took me back to the time when the revolution was going on in Cuba.....the whites went to Cuba don't ask me why!!! but anyhow the best part was seeing Patrick Swayze when he was at the ripe age of 80!!! so the movie pretty much is racist because they don't like whites and the whites don't like Cubans... i mean the ending was the best part not the credits well part of it but also that she didn't care if she was going to get an education!!! i mean what is the most important education or being the queen of some club???? the only thing that would spice up this movie is if someone said "nobody puts baby in the corner"...5) Nice movie with a little history lesson [Rating: 3 out of 5]
Pretty predictable if you watched the first Dirty Dancing. Still some good dancing in this one and it was good for a movie with next to no know actors in it. I found the activities going on during this period in Havana more interesting then the story of the main characters. Good to watch, not good to own.
