As paranoid cop Del Spooner, Will Smith (Independence Day, Men in Black) displays both his trademark quips and some impressive pectoral muscles in I, Robot. Only Spooner suspects that the robots that provide the near future with menial labor are going to turn on mankind--he's just not sure how. When a leading roboticist dies suspiciously, Spooner pursues a trail that may prove his suspicions. Don't expect much of a connection to Isaac Asimov's classic science fiction stories; I, Robot, the action movie, isn't prepared for any ruminations on the significance of artificial intelligence. This likable, efficient movie won't break any new ground, but it does have an idea or two to accompany its jolts and thrills, which puts it ahead of most recent action flicks. Also featuring Bridget Moynahan (The Sum of All Fears), Bruce Greenwood (The Sweet Hereafter), and James Cromwell (Babe, LA Confidential). --Bret Fetzer

its a great movie and we got it at an AWESOME price... but the bar code was cut out! lol! think it was stolen... however we did get it on time as well. overall, satisfied

Really enjoyed the movie, and will watch it over and over. Will Smith was perfect for the role!!

We get the usual humor and action of Will smith and a wonderfully represented future world. There seem to be little need for filling in of plot holes. Everything seems to make sense.Aside from the action, few smiling laughs, cool future world and Will Smith half naked, my favorite part of the movie is the general public ignorance of a problem until its too late, as well as corperate cover ups and hidden agendas. Minus the romance, I found a bit of everything I like in this.it's a dangerous thing, creating a mind. Considering our responsibility to that new mind, and it's relationship to us.If you enjoy Robot/Human conflict movies, I might suggest Armitage: Dual-Matrix/Armitage the Third: Poly-Matrix .

4) An interesting premise   [Rating: 3 out of 5]
This movie was unique and entertaining. I know the concept of A.I. is not new, but I like how it was realised in this film. This is by no means a great movie or a real important one, but it was fairly enjoyable and basically what you would call a 'popcorn flick', though a decent one. Will Smith plays the same exact character in every movie so I can't really rate him on his acting skills in this film, but it was at least bearable. The robots in the film were pretty neat, as were the rest of the effects. So, while not completely innovative, it is definitetly watchable.

5) Action packed fun formula predictable   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Detective Del Spooner (Will Smith) is not a fan of robots and on the surface looks like he does not believe they are as benign as advertised. The top inventor of the robots Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell) commits suicide (presumably). He leaves a message that has Spooner assigned to the investigation. Why Spooner? Spooner gets suspicious and will not leave the suicide lie. Naturally his boss Lt. John Bergin (Chi McBride) says drop it. The head of the robotics firm says drop it. Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan) knows he is crazy and says drop it. Even his own mother says drop it. V.I.K.I. (Fiona Hogan) is mistrustful of Spooner's motives.So does Spooner finally come to his senses and drop it?Is he paranoid or are his suspicions founded?This is definitely a Will Smith vehicle with a few CGI robots thrown in. The title of course came from a Robert Heinlein novel. From here we have all the standard cliché and scenarios as a boss who does not believe the same and kowtows to authority, an obvious bad guy, a girl that puts her foot in everyone mouth, standard red herrings, and much more.Still this is great fun and Will makes the movie. There are plenty of "action" scenes, "stay in the car" scenes, "shower" scenes, "chase" scenes, and even cliffhangers.I, Robot (Bantam Spectra Book)
