1) Product Description
Hard-drinking, burnt-out ex-CIA operative John Creasy (Washington) has given up on life--until his friend Rayburn (Oscar winner Christopher Walken) gets him a job as a bodyguard to nine-year-old Pita Ramos (Dakota Fanning). Bit by bit, Creasy begins to reclaim his soul, but when Pita is kidnapped, Creasy unleashes a firestorm of apocalyptic vengeance against everyone responsible.2) Amazon.com
Style trumps substance in Man on Fire, a slick, brooding reunion of Crimson Tide star Denzel Washington and director Tony Scott. The ominous, crime-ridden setting is Mexico City, where a dour, alcoholic warrior with a mysterious Black Ops past (Washington) seeks redemption as the devoted bodyguard of a lovable 9-year-old girl (the precociously gifted Dakota Fanning), then responds with predictable fury when she is kidnapped. Prolific screenwriter Brian Helgeland (Mystic River, L.A. Confidential) sets a solid emotional foundation for Washington's tormented character, and Scott's stylistic excess compensates for a distended plot that's both repellently violent and viscerally absorbing. Among Scott's more distracting techniques is the use of free-roaming, comic-bookish subtitles... even when they're unnecessary! Adapted from a novel by A.J. Quinnell and previously filmed as a 1987 vehicle for Scott Glenn, Man on Fire is roughly on par with Scott's similar 1990 film Revenge, efficiently satisfying Washington's incendiary bloodlust under a heavy blanket of humid, doom-laden atmosphere. --Jeff Shannon

1) My favorite Denzel Washington movie [Rating: 5 out of 5]
He's one of my favorite actors. i loved this movie. Finally a different setting ,Mexico City. Just a great movie, why spoil it?2) Simply good movie [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I really liked this movie a lot. Director and all actors did a great job, the plot was interesting, great photography. I do not like the violence in the movies, but this one I could handle, even though I would like it better if there was less of it. Highly recommended to those who like good thrillers. One of the best movies I have seen recently.3) Great Flick [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Denzel is at the top of his game. Dakota Fanning is so talented. It's a great movie. It's a favorite in my DVD collection.4) No Extras!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [Rating: 1 out of 5]
I will not buy any Blu-Ray DVD's that do Not Include extras that Standard DVD's include. All the talk about being able to hold so much space on Blu-Ray and they do not include extras............what a joke.5) This is Real! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
The acting on all parts in this film is superb, especially that of the gangsters and corrupt "authorities" of Mexico D.F. They are truly believable and it's good to see them get what they deserve as the story winds down. The only possible miscasting could be that of Dakota Fanning. Although I loved her in the part of Pita, an anglo mother with a Mexican husband (Spanish & Indian) would most likely give birth to a child of darker features than those of Dakota's. But this is an extremely minor critique and certainly won't stop me from my own purchase of this fine movie. Being a former resident and kidnapping survivor of Mexico D.F, watching this film gave me the same feeling I experienced during my own ordeal. It's real! The film also affords us some great shots of the beautiful upper-crust areas of the city, as well as the massively depressing, drastically impoverished spots. The film is highly entertaining and, it's real!
