In a futile but ambitiously decadent attempt to revive the loony legacy of National Lampoon comedies, Van Wilder will make you laugh out loud, or vomit, or both. It's that kind of movie, in which the title character (played by sitcom survivor Ryan Reynolds) is the resident slacker of Coolidge College for seven years and running. Enjoying his party-animal supremacy and reluctant to fulfill his potential, he's got an idolizing assistant from India (Kal Penn, the movie's ethnic stereotype, desperate virgin, and comedic highlight), and a journalism major (Tara Reid) assigned to uncover the secret of Van's controlled anarchy. Unfortunately, the movie's more Down to You than Animal House, opting for familiar teen romance over campus shenanigans, despite an abundance of flatulence, diarrhea, sicko sex jokes, gratuitous nudity, and one gag (involving a bulldog) that's disgusting by any standard. Keg-fueled frat-rats will surely elevate Van Wilder to semiclassic status; all others are urged to proceed with caution. --Jeff Shannon

1) Hilarious [Rating: 5 out of 5]
A must see. Anyone who's seen Animal House will see the similarity this movie's lead has to "Otter." In fact, Tim Matheson plays a mellowed "Otter" of sorts. It's great for the adult fan of comedies who isn't offended by four-letter words.2) What, 1 review?! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I cannot believe this classic (well, it will be) movie has one review. This is the funniest movie I ever seen (unrated version). Austin Powers Goldmember is close, but not quite.I have watched it at least 15 times over the last 2 years. I laugh at many parts to this day. I think Ryan Reynolds (van wilder himself) had his best role by far in this flick. He has tried to capture the same magic in other movies, but sorry.I am 38, married and have a 11 year old son. I own my own business and study business and read only non fiction. This movie has a great overall feel as Van is a good hearted guy throughout the movie. He is a good guy in a raunchy movie. You have a romantic comedy and gross guy flick all in one.c'mon, 1 review?3) Why is this DVD being released? [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I am looking at the Van Wilder 2 Disc Unrated Version Van Gone Wilder Edition that was released 4 years ago.The only difference I can see between them is a new cover and less Special Features.4) Loved the E'Clair Scene! [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I just loved this kooky screwy, funny movie, full of hijinx! I think this one beats Animal House for screwball college comedy! Two hard thumbs WAY up!!!MC White said: Check it out!5) One of the funniest ever! Vile, disgusting funny.. See Unrated! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
First of all, see the Unrated, and TURN on the UNRATED from the main menu. You will see some of the most beautiful upper female parts you have ever seen. Incredible. Almost worth the price of admission there. Then we go to the movie itself. Gross out humor like "Something About Mary". Smart humor like "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle". If you like comedy, you really will LOVE this.Walt D in LV
