Season one of Prison Break is great television. Here's the set-up. Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is framed and wrongfully convicted for assassinating the Vice President's brother. Lincoln's brother Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), who just happens to have designed Illinois' Fox River Penitentiary where Lincoln is on death row, hatches an elaborate escape plan. Michael's plan involves getting himself incarcerated in Fox River and smuggling the prison's blueprints by having them hidden in tattoos that cover his entire torso. Once inside, Michael must form alliances with a rogue's gallery of felons with their own sometimes unsavory motives. Meanwhile, on the outside, Lincoln's lawyer and one-time girlfriend Veronica Donovan (Robin Tunney), pursued by Secret Service agents, attempts to unravel the conspiracy that sent her man to the slammer. Prison Break is anchored by tight, suspenseful writing clearly relished by the largely little-known cast. Standouts include Robert Knepper as the murderer/pedophile T-Bag, who somehow makes such a despicable character likeable. Stacey Keach of Mike Hammer fame plays the warden-with-a-heart-of-gold, who clashes with Captain Brad Bellick (Wade Williams) over whether to rehabilitate the inmates or makes their lives more miserable. Peter Stormare, famous for his skills with a wood chipper in Fargo, turns in a deliciously menacing performance as mob boss John Abruzzi, while Amaury Nolasco's winsome Fernando Sucre shares a cell and secrets with Miller's Scofield. Watching the show one gets a sense that this is the opening salvo of Wentworth Miller's career, which will doubtless include roles as assassins, detectives, super heroes, and perhaps the champion of staring contests. Midway through the season it's explained that Scofield is a genius with an heightened sensitivity to other peoples' suffering, which sums up what makes the show so great--the mind-bendingly intricate plot is a framework for moments when people make others suffer and cope with the burden of their own suffering. The six-disc set includes 22 addictive episodes, audio commentary on selected episodes, three featurettes, and alternate and deleted scenes. As with most TV shows on DVD, the "previously on Prison Break" intros can get tiresome, but that's what the fast forward button is for. --Ryan BoudinotBreak Out of Prison Interviews With the Cast of Prison Break The Big House: Movies About Prison Life TV That'll Confuse You If You Don't Watch Every Episode

1) Better than 24!!!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
When the writer's strike was going on, my mom and I were desperate for anything to keep us entertained...a few people talked about "Prison Break" so we thought: Why not?Two words: HOLY CRAP!!! The first disc had both of us screaming at the TV, and pretty soon, we couldn't get anything done because of it. Soon enough, my brother joined in about disc 5, and all three of us were sucked in. This show will not disappoint, if you like compelx shows like LOST, or hot guys like in Supernatural. This will keep you guessing and begging for more after the finale. If you're bored, or just can't find anything to watch, get lost in Prison Beak!

2) A long series of unlikely incidents   [Rating: 3 out of 5]
The actors, set and camera work is good, but the writers got lazy after a while and things deteriorated badly. The basic plot is a man gets himself sent to prison so he can break out his brother, who was improperly convicted. The man, Scofield, is a structural engineer, and has access to the prison blueprints - knowing what he knows, he thinks he can mastermind an escape.I want to see difficulties overcome by ingenuity, courage and hard work - qualities in which I can believe, but by the third DVD of the set the series has degenerated into a series of problems and solutions that might have been arranged by some whimsical deity - for example, Scofield is sentenced to 90 days in the hole - his brother will have been dead for months before he can get out. How can he fix this ? He doesn't - the script does. The warden needs him to help with the warden's popsicle stick Taj Mahal. Another time, the bad guys are going to have him transfered to another prison. How can he fix this ? He can't - The warden has a change of heart. It works both ways. The bad guys are everywhere, know everything, and can find anybody. They are absolutly deadly to any number of bit-players. They are prevented from carrying out thier evil plans only by the writers, who cause them to not be able to catch a barefooted teenager, even though they know where he is from his cell phone, or kill a 100 lb female lawyer, even though they can abduct another frightened and careful larger woman from the same building in downtown Chicago. If you are younger than 14 or so you might not notice the longer and longer string of improbabilities, and unbelievable behaviors, but it will get harder and harder for adults.

3) Amazing   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Prison Break is by far the best show on television. The writer's are outstanding! Keep up the great work!

4) Received as stated   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
This product was received and met all expectations. The seller said it would be shipped 'like new'. It was sent in perfect condition. The only thing it was missing was the factory plastic wrap. The discs played perfectly and order was received before the expected shipping date.

5) Love it!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This show is so full of suspense! It is definitely worth it to have the season... there's no waiting for next week or commercials! I'm so glad I've purchased it!
