1) Amazon.com essential video
Molly Ringwald established herself as the teen queen of the '80s in this fresh comedy. The movie is a day in the life of Samantha, whose 16th birthday is turning out to be anything but sweet. All the traumas of teendom come down on one long day, which sees Samantha surrounded by dithery relatives, mooning over a high school hunk, and pursued by a sawed-off Lothario. Sixteen Candles marked the directing debut of John Hughes, and its goofy energy displayed a promising talent with a great ear for high school lingo ... a promise neglected since Hughes became, after Home Alone, a one-man entertainment industry. There are some pretty crass moments (Why the stereotype of the foreign-exchange student from Asia?), but Ringwald's steady appeal smoothes over the rough spots. As the pubescent, self-styled lady-killer, Anthony Michael Hall turns in a hilarious portrait of a young swinger; he and Ringwald would reteam with Hughes for The Breakfast Club, another key teen picture of the decade. --Robert Horton

1) 16 Candles [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Everything was and is great. Product came on time. The quality is as expected, which is fine. Basicly, No Issues.Thanks!2) Sweet Sixteen and never been kissed [Rating: 3 out of 5]
For some reason John Hughes movies always strike a chord with me. Previous to this, I've seen The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink and Planes, Trains & Automobiles, which I think gets funnier/sadder the more you watch it, but Sixteen Candles was one of those films that everyone who watches it, will see themselves in. I remember being sweet sixteen , fancying the most popular guys in school, being ignored, although I didn't have the problem of my family forgetting my birthday.Molly Ringwald was the darling of the eighties, along with the rest of the Brat Pack at the time, but she seems to have virtually disappeared right now. She seems to be mostly on TV in the US at the moment, and hasn't appeared in a movie in ages. She could have been one of the big Hollywood names, but for some reason, she dropped out of filming Some Kind Of Wonderful, which went to Lea Thomspon, and ended her run of films with John Hughes.Sixteen Candles is about a 16-year-old girl, who has to go to school on her birthday, knowing her family are too wrapped up in her older sister's wedding to remember their daughter is sweet sixteen. She's mad about one of the most popular guys in school, but instead, gets hassled by a geeky guy, who gets her knickers, so he pretend to his gang that they got up to no good. It's quite predictable, but quite sweet at the same time. Molly Ringwald suited these kinda roles perfectly, and unlike the 'teen' stars of today, she was actually 16 when the film was released. The best thing about this film were the scene-stealing roles from John & Joan Cusack. Joan was only credited as Geek Girl #1, but manages to steal the few scenes she's in. She wears a head brace thing, and was hilarious trying to drink water from a water fountain. I don't think she has any lines, but hey, she was brilliant!Sixteen Candles is one movie to be picked up if you want to relive your school days, and feel like the geek one more time. But the geek gets the guy in the end.3) Didn't ship when promised on amazon [Rating: 3 out of 5]
The ad on amazon states "We always ship the day we receive the order - NOT SO - astro video says that you have to order before 6:00AM in order for them to ship the same day!4) I've actually never seen it.... [Rating: 3 out of 5]
I ordered this movie for a relative, yet I've never seen it. When I was growing up, I saw parts of it, but never completely through. I still have yet to see the whole thing. I've heard everybody who has seen this movie loves it. Anybody growing up in the late eighties and early nineties and who loves cult-classics or whether or not you've seen it, has to own or have seen most John Hughes movies.5) Sixteen Candles [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Awesome movie my teen daughter and I enjoyed it. Definitely brings the 80's in your home.
