Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra star in this visually stunning metaphysical tale of life after death. Neurologist Chris and artist Annie had the perfect life until they lost their children in an auto accident; they're just starting to recover when Chris meets an untimely death himself. He's met by a messenger named Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and taken to his own personal afterlife--a freshly drawn world reminiscent of Annie's own artwork, still dripping and wet with paint. Meanwhile a depressed Annie takes her own life, compelling Chris to traverse heaven and hell to save Annie from an eternity of despair. The multitextured visuals seem to have been created from a lost fairy tale. Heaven recalls the landscape paintings of Thomas Cole and Renaissance architecture complete with floating cherubs, while hell is a massive shipwreck, an upside-down cathedral overgrown with thorns and a sea of groaning faces popping out of the ground (one of those faces is German director Werner Herzog). Williams is the perfect actor to play against the imaginative computer-generated imagery--he himself is a human special effect. But the lack of chemistry between Williams and Sciorra is painfully apparent, and the flashback plot structure flattens the story's impact despite its deeply felt examinations of the heart and the spirit. Still, there's no denying Eugenio Zanetti's triumphant production design and the Oscar-winning special effects, which create a fully formed universe that is at once beautiful, eerie, and a unique example of movie magic. --Shannon Gee

1) What Dreams May Come   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Great movie, looks good and always a pleasure to watch. The HD really brightens up the picture and makes everything that much more vivid.

2) A Glimmer into Actuality   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Much has been written in terms of reviewing this wonderful piece of cinematography. One thing folks viewing this film should realize is that the underlying book was influenced by the writings of Christian Mystic Emmanuel Swedenborg, whose " Heaven and Hell" depicted conditions in the discarnate state in ways which have been interpreted by this movie. His writings have influenced spiritual thinkers for hundreds of years, and, IMHO merit your examination if you felt moved by the film. In any case, this film should not be lightly dismissed as a modern day special effects fantasy, but as a serious testament to the revelation of conditions existing in the discarnate state. True seekers might do well to examine this further and use the movie as a key to further enlightenment.

3) good service   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
i was trying to get that movie since 2002. In just 2 minutes i got it by amazon, and it arrived 2 days early.... nice job!

4) visual awe and moving plot   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
There are already so many reviews describing the movie so i'll skip the synopsis and just get to what i think. I'd give the visuals a 4.5 out of 5 (based on the year this was filmed it was amazing and still holds up for the most part besides a few scenes here and there) and the colors and set designs are amazing. I'd give the plot a 3.5. Just take it all in as someone's view of the afterlife and of love and it makes for a pretty heartfelt, moving and unique story.

5) What Dreams May Come   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Such an amazing movie. The idea behind it as well as the execution are fantastic. You can't beat the picture's quality and vibrance.
