Aqua Aqua is a puzzle game, and as it's name might suggest, it is water-themed. Many years ago, a mystical comet called Soul of Ice collided with a gigantic asteroid, awakening dormant monsters and creating new planets. This is the home of the Aquas, who must battle the grumpy monsters while dealing with environmental catastrophes.

1) No overhead view, Oversensitive Controls [Rating: 2 out of 5]
Imagine 3-D tetris without an overhead view, rather a skewed 45 degree angle type view. It is really hard to see how the pieces land on the map, especially because they have deceptive shadows. Oh, and the controls are hyper-sensitive meaning you will be over-correcting and re-correcting until you mess up.I confess, I put the game down after failing the first tutorial level ten times in a row, because the blocks kept falling one space left or right at the last second every single time!If you can overcome the steep learning curve for the badly programmed controls, this looks like an awesome puzzle game. I never got that far. It's too bad the programmers didn't allow map rotation, turning off of shadows, or overhead views. Great concept, the execution failed. I recommend you avoid this game unless you can play it first. If you can get through all the tutorial levels, it's clicked for you, you'll like it. Otherwise (as in my case), dozens of other fun puzzle games are also out there. If you can't get it in a half-hour, this game isn't for you.2) Great puzzle game [Rating: 3 out of 5]
AQUA AQUA is the sequel to Wetrix (Nintendo 64). Players use various L, T, I and O shaped pieces to sculpt a landscape and create pools of water. Once enough pools are created, use fireballs to evaporate the water and score points. Let too much water drip off the edges, and it's game over. This game is a lot of fun and is an ideal 'zone out' game: once you get things built up and get into a groove, it's easy to play for a long time and rack up huge scores. The game isn't much more complex than that. Bonuses are available for creating deeper pools, burning off pools in multiple areas on the board, and containing a large amount of water at once. There are some dangers as well: ice cubes that freeze your lakes, 'bomb' pieces that blast holes in the floor, an earthquake that destroys walls when too much land is present, and giant creatures that periodically appear to wreak havoc on your work. Still, these things only enhance the game experience by providing some extra spice. One really nice thing about the game: the music is excellent. Each stage has its own ambient electronica track that is great and helps the game tremendously. I wish there had been a separate soundtrack release! Other sound effects fit the game well enough, though the voices are hyper-cutesy. (This is a completely different style from the N64 version, though the mechanics are still the same)My main gripe is with the controls. Things would be fine except the little piece shadow is misleading and isn't actually shaped like the piece you're placing. Also, the joystick is overly sensitive. It's very frustrating to spend a bunch of time lining up a block exactly where you want it only to find that it didn't behave like the shadow said it would. One other annoyance is that on some levels, the colors make it difficult to tell how high the land is. It can be easy to miss tiny gaps where water is leaking out.Still, the game is a lot of fun and a great puzzle game. At less than $10, puzzle fans everywhere should check it out.3) GIVE US MORE AQUA AQUA! [Rating: 5 out of 5]

"Aqua Aqua?!?" I first questioned the title of the game when I heard but when I started playing I soon figured not to judge a game by its name. My first impressions while playing is another mediocre game with simple gameplay and no difficulty. Boy was I wrong. This game is a fantastic representation of what a puzzle game is all about. Its action sequences and puzzles fit for everyone. The difficulty can be set from 4 different settings and each are reasonable. The colors and graphics are a manifest of beauty. The gameplay passes even those of Final Fantasy X. I cannot compare this game to any other because its just that great. I love the characters. They might look cute but they are deadly with instinct. This game is a gorgeous puzzle game plain and simple. Once you pick up the controller you will love Aqua Aqua. You'll never play another game for several months if not years. Remember its a rare game with not many offshoots. Get the game while you can. A rare collectors game and a classic puzzler all in one. This game is a must buy for any gamer!!5) Wet puzzle action [Rating: 3 out of 5]
The concept for this game is unique to Playstation. You have to build lakes and get your land to hold water until you evaporate it with fireballs to score points. I agree with most of the other posters in that the overshoot/undershoot thing is hard to get used to, and that the fixed camera angle is an issue, however the Zoom feature is helpful. Worth a rental to decide if you're going to buy it.
