1) Amazon.com
This two-CD, 25-song set, recorded in Louisville on two nights in the spring of 2002, finds bluegrass's most celebrated crossover band at the top of its game. Krauss's warm, feathery vocals, capable of conveying complex emotions in a single note, appear more full-bodied than in studio recordings, yet lose none of their sensual appeal or dramatic tension. She's perfect, for example, as the melancholy temptress on "Let Me Touch You for Awhile," coming across as both savior and seductress, while Jerry Douglas's Dobro echoes the searing strains of passion and pain. With banjoist-guitarist Ron Block, bassist Barry Bales, and guest drummer Larry Atamanuik anchoring the rhythm, the ensemble deftly blends bluegrass with jazz, rock, and folk, combining lightning speed (though rushing through "Forget About It") with sophisticated chops, tangible emotion, and thrilling vocal blends. The crowd, more spellbound with every note, doesn't even breathe on "Ghost in This House" and nearly tears the place down on Dan Tyminski's voice-of-George Clooney showcase, "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow." But who could blame them? It's only one highlight on an album of uncommon artistry, a moving testament to how good live music can be in the hands of world-class players. --Alanna Nash

1) Krauss is a New Favorite [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I am not a mega fan of bluegrass, but this album has been done so well, it often takes my breath away. She has included a wide variety of music and musicians who focus on the total sound. Just excellent.2) Fantastic Live Bluegrass [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Alison Kraus is a genius in bluegrass. I don't like country western at all, and this album doesn't even have a hint of that in it. The musicianship and instrumentation on this album is melodious in a way that treats your ears! Recorded live in a theater in Kentucky, this album is worth every dime I spent on it!3) Convert [Rating: 4 out of 5]
As a rule, I basically hate country music, but I LOVE Allison Krauss and US! It's definately her voice...crisp and clear and lacking that "twang" and "nasality" of most country singers. I am also a big Celtic music fan and I can hear the similarities between the two. The instrumentals are rich and deep and tie it all together. My friend introduced me to AKUS a month ago....now I'm addicted! There is just so much crap out there now....this definately is NOT!4) A must have! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I first heard about AKUS about 4 years ago, when I watched their videos "new favorite" and "the lucky one" on CMT. Well, they intrigued me but I was not by any means a fan of blue grass. I'm just your average 22 year old, I like pop and R&B and such.I picked up their live album at a Borders store. It took me a while to get used to this style of music, but, let me tell you, they have become my most favored country band and Alison Krauss my most favored country singer, EVER! I had the pleasure of watching Alison Krauss and Union Station perform live just a few months ago when they came to New Mexico. Their live performance is amazing. Alison has true talent. She sounds just as great live as in the recording studio, heck, she may even sound better! How many artists today can claim that?Alison Krauss has the most beautiful voice I think I have ever, EVER heard. Her fiddling skills are equally amazing. This live album blew me away! I've never heard ANY band that sounds so great live. This album is a nice compilation of their hit songs and if you are new to their music, its a good way to become familiar with the band. This album is simply a must have!5) Country or Bluegrass? Either Way It's Great! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Allison has a superb voice and singing style and it seems like the words just flow from her! If you like Country or if you like Bluegrass or a blend of the two then you'll want this CD. The quality of the CD is excellent and you won't be disappointed! Fast Delivery too!
