Editorial Reviews (supplied by Amazon.com):
1) Amazon.com essential recording
Joni Mitchell would go on from this '71 recording to make more popular, more ambitious, and more challenging albums, but she's never made a better one. Working with minimal accompaniment (Stephen Stills and James Taylor are two of the four sidemen), the Canadian thrush summoned an involving song cycle of romance found and lost. Though Blue is an uncommonly intimate representation, it's also astonishingly open and gracious. Songs such as "All I Want," "Carey," "California," and "A Case of You" work equally well as poetry and pop music. --Steve Stolder

1) Blue is Beautiful [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Joni Mitchell has to be one of the VERY best writers - And how wonder-full she's also one VERY talented musician! While there have continued to be individual songs by Joni Mitchell that I have particularly enjoyed throughout the years after the release of "Blue", ALL of the songs on this albumn have remained my personal favorites.(I'll concede Robert Downing Jr. did a credible rendition of "River" way back when on a popular tv show - But I am actually put off by the recent remake.)For those not familiar with the one and only original artist -I recommmend this albumn to anyone who is interested in discovering the full range of "flavors" Ms. Michell offers.2) Joni fanboy here! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Joni Mitchell is a beautiful singer, and contains a beautiful voice. Furthermore, she has a beautiful variety and distinct sound to her music. Are you getting tired of hearing me say the word "beautiful"? No other word will work, sorry. Why radio stations completely ignore this masterpiece I'll never understand. A quality album that triggers some of the strongest emotions a human being can possibly have. There's a reason everyone likes Joni Mitchell. When you combine a perfect voice with perfect range to a distinct style of songwriting, you can't lose. Justin Hayward from the Moody Blues said he loves Joni's music, and that's another reason to check out this album. I can see why. Both singers have an amazing range and melodic style that pleases me on a personal level. Now you know what you have to do. You have to pick up the Blue album and enjoy one of the greatest musical achievements of the 70's.3) Joni Mitchell Blue CD [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I recently ordered this CD and was pleased with the condition and how quickly I received the item.4) Joni at her best! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Joni,Needs no introduction, to us old folk. I am 45 years old. She is and always has been "the Bomb", my daughters words.I have always worshipped Joni and when I hear her singing one of her classics from this "album", or any other, she moves me(not CD or ipod fodder). In my line of work, trauma physician, she allows me to focus and "get er done" as a country comedian might be apt to say.She has a calming effect as well as a space in my heart that few have entered. My father ,and mentor, who was professionally trained for opera, would ALWAYS stop when she sang and sometimes hold me and cry at the emperic beauty of her voice. He only used to do that when my sister, a professional opear singer, of great reknown, sang.Joni Mitchell is so many positive things to so many positive people that, in my opinion, her place in many categories of music should be gauranteed "hall of fame" material and quality.Love you Joni and all the inspiring moments you have and continue to give.Dr. Jim Morrow5) One of the Top Ten Albums Ever Made [Rating: 5 out of 5]
As a singer growing up in the sixties, I was heavily influenced by Joni Mitchell--her vocal style, her complex melodies, the gorgeous poetry of her lyrics. Very few singers today can begin to approach the artistry of a woman whose career has spanned decades and to whom countless artists give an admiring nod as having been a profound influence on their own music. This is as good as it gets. I felt that way 30 years ago and I still feel that way today. If I had only one CD to take with me to a deserted island, this would be it.In my opinion, the only younger artist out there today that has her kind of writing and singing chops is John Mayer. He gives me hope that the timeless music of artists like Joni and The Beatles (to name only two of many) will continue to be made, however grim the music business might look.
