1) Thats the Skillet I Know and Love [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Since hearing their latest CD, Comatose, I've been getting all of Skillets CD's in the hopes of getting one as good at Comatose was. I started with their first CD, Skillet,Hey You, I Love Your Soul, and Ardent Worship: Skillet Live, but was disappointed to see that they pretty much sucked before they got their female members, so, naturally, I decided to go with their second latest CD, maybe then they would be good. Hell yes they were. Not only is Collide an awesome CD, but it may be as good, if not better, than Comatose. Collide is a harder mettle sound than Comatose and has fewer soft rock songs, although there are some great soft songs here like A Little More. Most of the songs are loud, fast, and heavy mettle which normally I don't like too much but Skillet makes it work amazingly. Good night, if Skillet can make two amazing CD's like these two were, I can not wait for their next CD.Replay value; very high.2) Very good music. [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I'm rating this CD 4 stars only because I know they can do better (Comatose). Great heavy music with a positive message. Highly recommended for any person, young or old, who needs a fix of heavy metal.3) Not bad. Liked Comatose better. [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Saw Rebirthing on the Gospel Channel and owned Comatose less than a week later. Great CD. So I decided to get their previous release and was a little let down by it. Of course I recognized Savior, but beyond that, it just didn't do much for me.4) They've changed and for the worse [Rating: 2 out of 5]
It's sad that this band has completely flipped in style, but it appears to be true. "Hey You, I Love Your Soul" and "Invincible" were very much techno-influenced. And it's hard to find such a band in Christian music. As someone mentioned, "Alien Youth" was a little more industrial, but it was not a radical change. "Collide" clearly is. John Cooper screams over the guitars in this album so often that it becomes annoying. "Fingernails" and "My Obsession" have very strong hooks, but songs like "Forsaken" and "Savior" are far too heavy for hearing Cooper's vocals. "Savior" seems far too rushed. It just didn't work for me. The lyrics are good. I have not completely turned my back on this band, but I bought this CD without even looking at the reviews. I couldn't see this change coming. It will be interesting to see the next album. I don't think they realized how many from their fan base would feel alienated. If you don't like hard rock, don't buy this. If you don't mind that you can't make out all the lyrics and are looking for something Christian, this may be the CD for you. But personally, I highly recommend the aforementioned other albums.2 1/2 stars5) It was great [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Ok at first I was hesitant about buying their new CD because I was extremely happy with alien youth and invincible. They seemed to do so well on 2 of my favorite CD's that I thought that collide couldn't be any better. I went to california and heard their song savior and realized that I had to get that CD. It was the greatest CD I have ever listened to. I was immediately hooked from the time I first turned it on to this very point. The best thing is it not only pleases me, but it drives my parents crazy. I have always been a huge fan of skillet and would recommend this CD to anyone who like hard rock.
