Editorial Reviews (supplied by Amazon.com):

1) Album Description
On February 2003, Virginia Beach, Virginia introduced the world to the charming quintet collectively known as Mae. Not only was their debut album, "Destination: Beautiful" an instant success with audiences, but their live show proved their talent moved even past just writing alluring hits.

1) very strong start   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
after having heard so much about Mae. i decided it was time for me to take a listen to this bad and see what all the noise is about. Of course i'm glad that i did with their own sound and way of writing wonderful songs that you feel all throughout the song. Mae is totally a band that is a force to reckon with no labels necessary. A few of my favorite songs on the cd include "Skyline Drive", "Soundtrack For Our Movie", "Runaway", "This Time Is The Last Time" and "Last Call". I can't help but be excited by what they will do in the future. It is wide open and i know that i want to be there to enjoy each and every single moment of Mae and their music.Enjoy.

2) Great CD   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I love Mae, so I appreciate anything they put out. However, I think I prefer "The Everglow" a bit more than this album. But with that said, "Embers and Envelopes" makes me smile and sing along each time it pops up in my play list.

3) Every emo band is the flippin same.   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
So I WILL say that Mae is my favorite band and they're not the same. This has been in my top 10 most played list on my iPod for over 2 years now. They are far more musically tight than any other "emo" band I've heard. And I've heard a few. I would buy this CD twice, I loved it so much. I'm definitely not emo--even remotely, but Mae takes the cake. Combining matters of life with matters of love, their lyrics are simple, yet deep.If this band makes you feel depressed, get a prescription for Prozac, buy some clothes with colours and get some exercise. Flip.

4) Destination: Beautiful... wow!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I came across Mae some months ago as I was searching for new bands to listen to here in Amazon, and I've read a lot of positive feedbacks regarding the band so I quickly wrote them under my list of bands I wanted to check out (and I also saw that their cd cover was really nice... I admit it was one of the reasons why I was drawn to this cd). Fortunately, my friend had a cd of their album, Destination: Beautiful and I got so excited that I listened to it right away. After hearing some of the tracks, I quickly understood why this cd has collected a lot of high ratings from people. Mae's songs are lyrically (for me, there is a certain magic to their words) and musically (the notes and words fit just right, and the music captures the essence of the lyrics) beautiful. The vocals are also soothing as it will make you think and daydream of good things. The lyrics are catchy (although I don't really know their songs word per word) in the sense that you'd easily remember them because of their catchy tones. It won't be long until you find yourself alone singing to their tunes. It won't be long until you find yourself alone just wanting to hear their songs, or a part of their song. Their songs will really leave you wanting to hear them again and again. Some songs that I really find nice in this album are All Deliberate Speed, Summertime, Giving it Away, and my favorite, Sun. I find all of their songs nice... some just stand out. If you're looking for cd's to check out, put Mae's Destination: Beautiful in your list now!

5) Breath of Fresh Air   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Honestly, when I first picked up this cd I liked rwo songs on it: "Embers and Envelopes" and "All Deliberate Speed". The rest were just boring. But one day it just clicked. Now I think this cd is wonderful. The songs just have a clean and crisp sound that remind you of spring weather. The singer's voice is soft and easy to listen to. Nicely written lyrics, too. I recommend this!Stand out tracks:Embers and EnvelopesAll Deliberate SpeedLast CallGoodbye Goodnight
