Editorial Reviews (supplied by Amazon.com):

1) Amazon.com
Black Eyed Peas have at times been accused of sounding too Tribe for their own good, but this time out Will.i.am and crew have consciously expanded their horizons. Problem is, perhaps they've tried too hard. As the title suggests, Elephunk borrows from every single element of funk known to man and (with the exception of the one straight-out rock & roll track, "Anxiety") tries to cram them all into a semi-hip-hop format. While such willingness to experiment is admirable, in this case the attempt comes off as slightly desperate and too diffuse. Elephunk settles itself into a groove when BEP's newest member Fergie's lush girlie vocals are allowed to dominate, as they do on the discofied "The Boogie That Be." --Rebecca Levine

2) One of the BEST of the year   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is one of the best CD's in my collection. Espically excellent if you like to pump the bass in your car.

3) Play that funky music!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
If you love soul, funk, rap or hip-hop,this album is a perfect addition to your collection. WHERE IS THE LOVE? is an incredibly awesome track that makes me and many others shake our butts! The other tracks are awesome!

4) good going out music   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I like this, but I LOVE hip hop..I still think early BEP's was best, but this is a fun packed dance-lover album.

5) Elephunk? The odd title reflects the group   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Black Eyed Peas is a group either people get or don't get. I fit into both categories. I enjoyed the somewhat overplayed hit single "Where Is The Love?" but didn't find it engaging enough to purchase the record it was featured on--until I heard their next single "Let's Get It Started." The funk-pop groove sounded excellent and I decided to get Elephunk. Highlights are the aforementioned two hit singles, "Hey Mama" and "Shut Up." The remainder is decent fluff but nothing that lives up to those four likable singles. Unfortunately the oft-odd personalities of each of the Peas' members are so awkward it's hard to like the band as much as the songs themselves. Still, it's a decent album that has some good grooves--but far from perfect.
