Norah Jones blew everybody away with her jazzy, country-tinged, Grammy-winning debut CD, Come Away with Me. On this recording, Jones doesn't mess with her trademark formula. Under Arif Mardin's cozy coproduction, Jones is supported by her writing partners, her Handsome Band, and some special guests (country legend Dolly Parton, Levon Helm and Garth Hudson of the Band, and jazz drummer Brian Blade, to name a few). Jones's Texas-twanged vocals and her sparse acoustic and electric Wurlitzer piano lines enliven the CD's 13 tracks, from the light and lively single "Sunrise" to Tom Waits's "The Long Way Home" and the bouncy duet with Parton, "Creepin' In." Jones's soul-baring piano/vocal rendition of Duke Ellington's "Melancholia," retitled "Don't Miss You at All," proves she's a true Blue Note artist with unlimited potential. --Eugene Holley Jr.

Average Customer Rating: 3.5 out of 5

1) Feels Like Home   [Rating: 3 out of 5]
Only three stars because this recording has too many different music styles. Some nice and sultry, some country, some hillbilly, some jazz.Several songs don't fit her voice well. If you're looking for some Nora Jones consistency, this isn't it.

2) Actually like the music, very poor recording though   [Rating: 3 out of 5]
Unlike a lot of reviews of less than 5 starts, I enjoy the music on this CD. If you enjoy the sound of Norah's voice, you'll like the CD if you can put up with: The recording quality of this CD is horrible. Most songs have clipping or distortion no matter what system I play it on. The higher the end system the more obvious the recording has issues. If I wanted a low quality version of her music I would have just downloaded it from iTunes.

3) More up-beat than her others   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I like Norah Jones. She's a good singer, and quite a good musician all around. She certainly shines in her songwriting and piano-playing skills. Her sound has a sultry, low, country-blues feeling to it. I feel that there are definitely influences of Robert Johnson in her music. My only problem with Jones is that she is just a good singer, not a great singer. Her skills as a songwriter set her apart from other mediocre vocalists, but without that skill, she would have certainly been forgotten under the blanket of "okay" vocalists. Certainly, her voice suits the music that she writes, but that would only stand to reason. What I do not see is a musician trying to take risks and try something new. Maybe breaking into a different sound would "wake up" her sound a bit. A blend of her music with Native American rhythms... anything! I'm getting bored with the same sound over and over.On the other hand, she is certainly providing me with a lovely genre of songs to perform myself or to pass on to my students.

4) Beautiful, mellow, pure Norah Jones   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
A great CD featuring Jones' wonderful voice. Her back-up band is a little mundane in my opinion, but Jones is superb anyway.

5) Norah is so great!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I have always been a big Norah Jones fan! I love all of her music and this was no exception!
