1) Amazon.com
For many bedroom producers, Daniel Bedingfield's debut must seem like a dream come true. A songwriter, home producer, and vocalist whose laptop recording of the title track was one of the biggest hits of 2001 in the UK, Bedingfield makes music that's one part Prince, one part Michael Jackson, and one part UK Garage. Poppy soul-funk in the vein of Cameo, he possesses a distinctive edge that sets him apart from countless other '80s revivalists. A softer side of Bedingfield emerges on "If You're Not the One," a ballad that could easily be dismissed as generic album-filling slush but, with a few listens, proves to be the kind of well-crafted song Jackson's Invincible lacked. One gripe: the re-recorded version of "Gotta Get Thru This," while far more polished and professional than its predecessor, lacks the infectious, raw groove of the original. Still, this album demonstrates how pop music should be made--with a strong emphasis on skill rather than image. --David Trueman

1) Incredible Artist   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Daniel Bedingfield has a beautiful voice. I love almost every song on this album. I cry every time I hear "If You're Not The One." Can't wait to hear more from him.

2) You will have no problem getting thru this album...   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I know I'm a little late on reviewing this album, but it could quite possibly one of the best, ever! I was introduced to it by my friend in college four years ago and since then it has gotten a lot of play out of me. Unfortunately, Daniel has fallen off the US charts due to poor sales of his second album which wasn't nearly as great as this release.I can't begin to tell you which track stands out more then another. Every single song has it's own unique flavor and has won me over. And trust me when I tell you that I do not say that about many artists, especially in this type of music. Most pop these day is terribly written or over produced, but not Daniel. His lyrics are all his own and the passion in his voice is very evident on each track. I only wish that he would come back to us with another release such as this one. Until then I will be patiently waiting and listening to this album!

3) A great CD from Daniel Bedingfield   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is the first of Daniels cds I have bought. I really like it. The songs are all great. I will definately get more.

4) dance, cry, & sing along   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
the songs on this CD are either a) 2dance4 or b) sweet, sappy, and beautiful. very catchy, easy to love tunes. my personal favorites were "Inflate my Ego" ('cuz it's so crazzzzy & u just want to sing along) and "If you're not the one" (so simple for all of us who've been through heartbreak--&Iquot-"is there any way that i can stay in your aaaaaarrrms. 'cuz i need your body & soul so bad that it takes my breath away"--just gorgeous. made me want to cry...that's another story, though. if you listen to that song on headphones it sounds as if he's whispering in your ear.) his voice is soothing and deep when it needs to be, fast and crazy when it needs to be. "gotta get thru this" is good the first time you hear it, but then you get sick of it (or at least i did). every single song is a gem, i didn't waste my money.

5) A pleasant surprise   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Like many people, I was first introduced to Mr. Bedingfield via his first US hit single and title track to this CD, "Gotta Get Through This". That song was OK, but it was not the kind of song that would make me want to run out and buy a CD. Then came "If You're Not the One". I immediately fell in love with that song. After hearing it repeatedly on the radio, I decided to buy the CD. Now, let me tell you, that was a major feat. If I think an artist is only gonna have 1 or 2 good songs on a CD, I download those songs rather than buying an entire CD. So, I only knew 2 songs and decided to buy this CD based on those songs. I was pleasantly surprised.I am not sure why Daniel has not had other hits here in the States. This CD is equally balanced between high-energy dance tunes and touching ballads. And Daniel's voice can really tear right through you on those ballads. Other songs that I particularly like on this disc include "Blown it Again", "James Dean (I Wanna Know)", "He Don't Love You Like I Love You", "I Can't Read You", "Friday", "Honest Questions", "Girlfriend", and "Without the Girl". In my opinion, anyone of these songs should have been Top 10 hits. The only song that I am less in love with is "Inflate my Ego", which sounds like a song Robbie Williams refused to do. Late in 2004, Daniel released a 2nd CD in the UK. So far, it has yet to be released stateside. I am anxious for the new CD to be released here in the US. I hope his record company has not abandoned the US market. I know it is available as an import, but I hate to pay import prices. Until it is released, I will just have to enjoy playing this CD.
