For a man who gets his biggest kicks surfing the waves and strumming his guitar on a lonely beach in native Hawaii, singer-songwriter Jack Johnson has carved out quite a remarkable career on the mainland. His 2003 album, On and On, debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and subsequently went platinum on the back of hit single "The Horizon Has Been Defeated." The follow-up, meanwhile, seems destined to shine even brighter. The drifting chords and soft voice are still in place, only now Johnson's instinct for melody has sharpened alongside his ability to self-edit. These small concessions make third album, In Between Dreams, his most conspicuous, particularly on tracks like the three-minute relationship drama, "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing," and "Breakdown," a song he originally recorded for Handsome Boy Modeling School's White People album remade here to reveal its full stripped-down loveliness. Imagine all the coconuts it will buy. -- Aidin Vaziri

Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5

1) Worth every penny!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Jack Johnson is amazing just by himself but then he also plays the guiter as well, which makes for a more personal album. This album is an "I'm in love and need a song to show it" album. For anyone who has a special someone in their life this can be part of your soundtrack

2) just an amazing album   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I just wanted to throw my two cents in and state that I love this album. I heard about him through a friend and this music is mellow, relaxing and relatable. Much better than anything you'll find on the radio!

3) Jack does it again   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Jack Johnson manages to keep his distinct style, with just enough change to keep it fresh and interesting.

4) Great CD for Hangin' Out   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I first heard this CD at my son's house - came straight home and bought myself a copy! If you enjoy flowing, witty lyrics and clean acoustic guitar, you'll enjoy this CD.

5) T O O ... S L O W   [Rating: 1 out of 5]
To me, this type of music with MINIMAL instrumentation and dreamy yet unexciting vocals is aimed towards anyone ready for:A quiet yoga sessionA nice, laid-back drive down the highwayA great, undisturbed sleepOtherwise, it just may bore you or put you to sleep! REALLY. He has a nice, fitting voice for music, but without the upbeat or exciting instruments, you may be VERY bored like I was. I heard this ALL THE WAY THROUGH in mid 2006 when I had my therapy (for my back). I just heard it Jan. 5, 2007 (today) at the end of the Curious George movie and I got to pay attention to the lyrics a bit, on 4 WHOLE songs and they're decent, but I wanted to sleep again!!And PLEASE don't think that I like writing reviews to put musicians down. He's obviously talented if he plays a guitar (and more?), can write his own songs and sing. And don't think I find music that's slow boring:1. I LOVE R&B and Soul music. A huge margin of that is mid and down-tempos.2. I like Coldplay and John Mayer.3. Some of the best songs ever are slow.1.4 stars.Download Sitting, Waiting, Wishing through ITunes, Limewire or Torrents and listen to the samples and THEN decide on it!
