However coy she might be in her public statements, Britney Spears leans more than a bit toward the provocative on In the Zone. Less concerned with aiming at the mainstream radio dial than in the first days of her career, she and her collaborators make this as street and club ready a record as possible. The opening duet with Madonna, "Me Against the Music," is worthy, but the bigger superstar's presence serves almost less as a performance than a key to Britney's intentions: as Madonna did on albums such as Erotica , Ray of Light, and Music, she's out to bend current trends to her needs. R. Kelly, Moby, and Ying Yang Twins all provide stirring moments that draw on everything from Bollywood to Southern hip-hop, while one of the most impressive tracks, "Touch of My Hand," joins the proud tradition of Cyndi Lauper's "She Bop." She still lacks a fully formed artistic vision of her own, but Zone, with its many get-free anthems, puts her much closer. --Rickey Wright2) Album Description

1) Don't Read This Review [Rating: 4 out of 5]
"In the Zone" is Britney Spears at her absolute finest and without a doubt, toxic is the greatest single ever to grace the airwaves. No one is too cool, too old, too hot, too young, too smart, too dumb, too skanky, too prudish, too gullible, or too lame to listen to this mainstream masterpiece. People who give one-star reviews and say turn off the radio and listen to "good music" are pretentious fools who want to inflict their cynical beliefs onto everyone else because they are depressed from listening to Elliot Smith and Wilco. I'm In the Zone - Are you?2) Her best album yet [Rating: 4 out of 5]
In the Zone is Brit's best album to date. It's not as poppish as her previous three albums. With this album Britney takes some chances. She experiments with different sounds and she shows tremendous growth as an artist. Tracks like "Breathe On Me" and "Early Mornin" are very chill, laid back songs that you can just relax to, while "Outrageous" and "The Hook Up" are raggae dance numbers that are sure to get you on your feet. Brit experiments with techno on the infamous "Toxic". "Everytime" and "Shadow" are beautiful ballads where Britney really showcases her voice. Brit's lyrics have also matured. This is evident in the controversial track "Touch of my Hand". This is such a fantastic album. It really shows how much our teeny bopper Brit has matured musically AND lyrically. The only reason I'm giving this album 4 stars and not 5 is because I would've liked the album to be a few tracks longer and they could've done without a remix of "Me Against the Music" (which is one of the weaker tracks on the album). Anyhow, this is a great record. Even those non-Britney fans will enjoy several tracks. Highly recommended.3) Great Experimental Album [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Yes, experimental. I love how many different styles there are on here. Reggae, techno, strings, electronica, r&b.. very cool stuff. And for all the 1-star reviews, they're all just Britney haters.4) Great!!! But Get The Import Version [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Britney's 4th Studio Album In The Zone Is Her Best CD Yet. She Has Really Matured And Her Voice Is Better Than Ever. But The Import Edition Is So Much Better. It Has 2 Bonus Tracks That Are Great. They Are The Answer And Don't Hang Up. Get This CD Today, You Won't Regret It.5) what can I say..... [Rating: 1 out of 5]
To anyone who has ever listening to good music....I don't need to say anything but...come on it's britney....it's garbage.
