The Goo Goo Dolls have long since traded the bracing, Replacements-lite abandon of their early days for an ethos of heart-on-their-sleeve emotionality wed to a solid heartland pop craftsmanship that's too easily been casually mislabeled. Superstar producer Glen Ballard (who shares many a writing credit here as well) pushes that latter sensibility to its logical extremes, ensuring a slick sonic experience that won't disappoint those who hitched themselves to the Dolls' wagon circa their mid '90s commercial breakthrough. But there remains a nagging sense that this is a band that isn't pushing itself very hard: even the hook-solid opening single "Stay With You" seems downright cautious. Coupled with Ballard's penchant for polish, Johnny Rzeznik's introspection on "Without You Here" hews close to the center line before Robbie Takac's "Listen" gives the album a much-needed jolt of energy. The album's featured cover, a faithful, contemporary AOR-friendly take on Supertramp's "Give a Little Bit," is emblematic of the Goo Goo Dolls fortunes here: They often seemed boxed in by a past that's not necessarily their own. --Jerry McCulley

Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5

1) "The moment you decided to let love in..."   [Rating: 3 out of 5]
Let Love In by The Goo Goo Dolls is an so-so album. Not as good as Dizzy Up the Girl or Gutterflower, but still beautiful and the lyrics are heartfelt. The problem I have with this cd is I wish John Rzeznick sang all the songs, his voice is so much better than Robbie's, oh well. Songs I like on this album include: Stay With You, Better Days, Let Love In, and Give a Litte Bit. The rest is mostly filler but hey this album has a lot of heart so that's a plus.

2) The Goos have proved their talent once again!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is another amazing album from an extremely talented band! The lyrics and melodies are full of honesty, richness, and emotion. I love this album and I'll continue to admire and respect the Goos for many years to come. They are my number one favorite band of all time, and they have always amazed me with their talent and effort. They have definitely proved that they can always make fantastic music and never let their fans down. The Goo Goo Dolls are the best!

3) A little more popular....radio ready   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Let Love In, is not my favorite GGD CD. I think it's because not many of the song's stand out as originals or unique for me. This CD seems a bit more, radio play ready, if you will. A little softer, for sure. And sadly, there is no acoustic song on this album like the last few (acoustic #3, Sympathy)- which is what I always look forward to and undoubtedly listen to on repeat. However, this is still a great CD, with great songs. Just a slightly different more "pop" sound, in my opinion. I do like the majority of the songs on this album, Beautiful is a favorite, as well as Better Days and Stay With You.Still a huge GGD fan, enjoyed them in concert last month and am looking forward to more treasures from them in the future, but maybe getting a bit back to their more rockin' roots though.

4) After a long absence they are back with their most distinct ablum ever.   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I've always been a big fan of the Goo Goo Dolls, they have a unique sound and a melancholia about them that makes me love them. After a long time without new work they are back now with an album that reflects the Dolls that I've come to know but this album certainly has a sound of it's own. Listen to any of the tracks and you won't mistake it for anything that you've heard before but it is still the Dolls; a bit of love, disappointment, and the ever present and prevalent hopeful vibe. They are a little older and a little wiser and I can't help but feel like the events that have unfolded in our society in the past few years have a lot to do with how this album has came out, but maybe that's just me >.

5) One of the best albums of the year!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
The Goo Goo Dolls have always been one of my favorite bands. Ever since their breakthrough hit Name in the mid-90's, the Buffalo, New York group have managed to come out with instant classics, most notably the smash hit Iris, and pretty much all the singles off of Dizzy Up The Girl. Thier most recent effort, let Love In, doesn't fall short. The album opens with one of the most powerful ballads of 2006, the hit single Stay With You. This is followed by a string of wonderful slow and solid surefire rockers: the riveting Better Days, the delightful Supertramp cover Give A Little Bit, the amazing Feel The Silence, the elusive Without You Here, the breathtaking Let Love In, and the awesome album closing Become. Let Love In is an outstanding collection of ballads, songs that the Dolls have been able to master over the the years. I compare their contribution to modern rock to that of what 80's rock band Journey offered us two decades ago. One of the best albums of the year!RecommendedA
