Customer Reviews (supplied by Amazon.com):
Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5

1) Relient K CD   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I love this CD. I've been a Relient K fan for awhile and have really enjoyed this next CD.

2) Great Album   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is a great alternative band with faith based lyrcs. These guys are wise beyond their years and their songs have a broad youthfull appeal. I would give Relient K and the MMHMM album my higest recomendations

3) Reliant K Grow up...   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I had briefly listened to Reliant K before "Mmhhm", but only to see what all the commotion was about. I was told a lot about their silly songs, and how funny they were, but that they were also a Christian band. For an example of this cross between goofiness and Christianity see (Marylin Manson Ate) My Girlfriend" or even "Sadie Hawkins Dance". Although before "Mmhhm" there was nothing wrong with Reliant K, they just needed a step forward toward maturity, and that is what they took here. The themes on "Mmhhm" are at times dark and contemplative ("I So Hate Consequences and "More than Useless" "Who I am Hates Who I've been") and other times just plain goofy ("My Girl's Ex-boyfriend" and "The Only Thing Worse than Beating a Dead Horse is Betting on One"). The overall tone is very dark and feels somewhat depressing, but highlights that brighten tone like "High of 75" and "Be My Escape" make the album feel a little less weighty. It seems that here Reliant K were struggle to balance their newfound maturity with their past goofiness, and it works pretty well here, but they found a much better balance on "Five Scores and Seven Years Ago". However, if you haven't listened to Reliant K before this is a good place to start, it showcases both their goofy side and serious side fairly well. God Bless and *enjoy* ~Amy

4) Relient K Hits Gold and Oil In The Same Album   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Relient K axed its old image and created a new one, minus a guitarist, plus two, bringing the lineup to five. Gone are the direct mentions of God, opting to design lyrics to mean either God, or a girl, depending on what you figured it. Most of Relient K's core fans saw the move as a sell out and a desertion of the band's roots. Departed are the pop culture references and in with themes of girls, breakups, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Most noticeable though, is the band's shift to more punk and hard rock. This time the highlight is "The Only Thing Worse than Beating a Dead Horse Is Betting on One," a thinking man's song, a lyrical tour de force, a summarization of politics, and a caution toward the future. "Just listen to the politician wishing his position wasn't missing everything his heart would like to say. And the constant in the constitution is that there can't be one solution, it'd be so far from the truth that we would hate it anyway. Opinions are immunity to being told you're wrong; paper, rock, and scissors they all have their pros and cons. And all of us we will endure, just like we always have. But you just can't be too sure how long this will last. Cause we control the chaos, in the back of our minds our problems seem so small. But they grow on us like gravity. But gravity still makes us fall."The only problem with the album is there's little originality; it's been done. That said; Relient K does it better, with construction of songs and substance of messages conveyed. Overall, a stellar rock album that fulfills with its well thought-out finality.

5) Positive Pop/Punk   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
The first couple of times that I listened to this CD, I didn't really like it. After hearing it again sometime later, I started to like it quite a bit more.It is pretty clear that the targeted audience is those in their teens or early twenties. The group has a pop/punk sound. I am not in their intended demographic as I'm in my 40s. Nevertheless, I find this album to be quite good. My teenage daughter really likes it.The songs have positive lyrics. The members of Relient K are Christians and they are often called a Christian band. Some of their songs sound as though they may have a subtle Christian message. Most of those could be construed in two ways. Some of them sound like they are boy-girl songs. Their lyrics are certainly not overtly Christian. Those who are looking for clear cut Christian lyrics may not like this attribute. There are three songs on this that are very good: Be My Escape, High of 75, and Who I Am Hates Who I've Been. I would recommend at least purchasing digital copies of those three tracks. This is not a CD that parents need to be concerned about. The messages are predominantly positive and at least potentially spiritual.
