1) Product Description
This has the best collection of songs

2) Amazon.com
These days she's fodder for tabloid writers and late-night comics, but way back in the '90s Mariah Carey ruled the charts. This two-disc collection offers up evidence why, for better or worse, Mariah's five-octave, pop/R&B stylings set the diva standard. Greatest Hits culls its offerings from Carey's five albums on Sony (she is now signed to Virgin), and you get all the facets of her platinum-plus sound. From the soulful smolder of her 1990 debut "Vision of Love" (still one of her best tracks) to the coyer-than-thou duet with Jay Z ("Heartbreaker"), Carey thrills, trills, and hits notes that only canines comprehend. Fans will gobble this collection up, but inclusion of some of Carey's more adventuresome remixes (e.g. the Puffy-produced "Fantasy," featuring ODB) might have made this package more noteworthy. --Amy Linden

1) Finally a good "Greatest Hits" compilation   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This 2-CD set basically covers all Mariah's singles from her Columbia years (1990-2000) except for "There's got to be a way", "Never Forget You", "Open Arms", "Breakdown", "The Roof", "Crybaby", "Against All Odds" (it can found in International editions though), and the Merry Christmas singles (I guess they consider them "seasonal"). Unlike the #1's collection from 1999, this set includes top-ten singles and fan favorites that were not big hits. There is no filler in this set, and this is a great introduction to Mariah's music for new fans or people that just one to own one release by Mariah Carey. All songs are arranged in chronological order starting with the first Single "Vision of Love" from the debut album and ending with "Can't take that away" from the last album "Rainbow" on Columbia Records.Although this is a perfect "greatest hits" collection (except for the bonus remix that does not do add any good), loyal fans expected a little more since they might own already all of the tracks featured this set. It is not uncommon these days to see "greatest hits" collections with bonus discs of unreleased material and DVD's full of video clips and archived material. Since Mariah is not just another musician, but one of the best-selling artists of all time, a more complete collection would have been more suited for her. Hopefully in the near future they will release an "ultimate" collection or real "anthology" with all of her singles and best songs and unreleased material on both CD and DVD.

2) Great Collection!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I have always been a Mariah Carey fan since her debut album in 1990.She did slack a little bit after releasing her Glitter movie and album. But she has made some amazing pop and r&b songs. Still to this day, I really enjoy songs like "Dreamlover,Hero,Always Be My Baby,Love Takes Time,Fantasy,Honey,Heartbreaker",and so many more. If you have just recently discovered Mariah Carey's music, then this album is exactly what you want to see why she was one of the top leading artists of the 1990's. I am still stunned that this album charted at #52 and only achieved platinum status. I believe it was to 0 promotion for the album. Besides for that, it is well worth your purchase.

3) Easy Listening   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
This is a great collection of music even for those who are not Mariah Carey fans. Great buy and great addition to any music collection.

4) Not my taste   [Rating: 3 out of 5]
I don't like this CD overall, but it's not Mariah Carey, it's just the style of music. Her voice is beautiful so I love a couple of the songs, but overall, I can't listen to the music for very long.

5) A must have   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
For those of you who consider yourselves avid music listeners, just look at the tracklisting of Mariah Carey's Greatest Hits album, and you'll know that this 2-disc album is necessary for your collection. You'll think to yourself, "My, she has had a great career and released a lot of songs!" When comparing this album to her "# 1's" album, naturally, this one of more complete because, although all of this music didn't reach the top of the charts, it's still the best of Mariah. This album contains basically everything that Mariah and her camp has ever released to radio, and the finished product is memorable because, regardless your age, there is at least one Mariah song that will recollect some personal, fond memories. That five octave vocal range is, of course, here, but mostly on the first couple of songs. This album includes every tempo of music: uptempo songs, midtempo music and, Mariah's strength, the ballads. With ballads, Mariah is able to really allow her listeners to hear the greatness of her voice (although sometimes she strains her voice because she hits notes incorrectly on occasion.) In total, there are 28 songs here, so some of the material is better than others. Honestly, her early material is much better than the music released more recently, but it's all worth listening to. One of Mariah's strongest songs lyrically is the first song she ever released, "Vision of Love." When I was younger, I was not a fan of this song, but as I grew more mature and actually took the time to listen to the lyrics, I enjoy and appreciate this song; it is undoubtedly one of her best. Her best uptempo song? Come on now, that has to go to "Dreamlover." That song makes you want to get up and dance, sing along, and just recall great junctures in your life. The production is out of this world! Mariah's most successful song is "One Sweet Day", which features male quartet Boyz II Men. This is another track I didn't care for until I was older and took a listen to the lyrics. This song is about the hope of seeing deceased loved ones again. In my opinion, it's still not her best song, but great nonetheless. "Hero" is arguably Mariah's signature song, and there's no need to wonder why. This song was played or performed at countless graduations and other ceremonies because the message is so important: There is no need to look up to other people, because you are a natural hero, a natural role model. Mariah isn't afraid to let the world know that she believes in God. Just take a listen to "Thank God I Found You", "When You Believe", and a song dedicated solely to Him, "Make It Happen." That vocal range is very present in "Make It Happen." Speaking of which, if one really is really interested in her vocal range, "Emotions" is the song for them to listen to. Mariah has never showcased her vocal range like she did at the end of that song! It's one of my personal Mariah favorites. You need this masterpiece in your collection, there is no arguing that fact. Mariah has sold over 100 million records and is one of the most successful female artists ever. This greatest hits album enlightens us as to why she has been such a huge success. She's immensely talented!Mikeisha's Top 5 (Boy, it's difficult picking out just 5)1. "Dreamlover"2. "Love Takes Time"3. "Hero"4. "Emotions"5. "Always Be My Baby"
