Editorial Reviews (supplied by Amazon.com):
1) Amazon.com essential recording
The gruesome details surrounding Tupac's third solo offering are enough to give any music fan the willies. Released when Tupac was in jail serving time for a rape conviction and just after his recovery from being shot-up gangland-style at a recording studio, this was his most introspective piece of work to date. The heavy-hearted album opens up with a radio commentary describing the circumstances surrounding his shooting, and then plunges headfirst into Pac's infatuation with death. "So Many Tears," "Death Around the Corner," and "If I Die 2Nite" are all dark, eerily prophetic tunes that lend credence to widespread theories which suggest that Pac anticipated his impending death. The perpetually thugged-out wonder reveals a more benevolent side when it comes to gender and family issues. On "Dear Mama"--a fitting tribute to his mother recorded in the "Keep Ya Head Up" vein--Pac takes listeners into the loving recesses of his heart, while on "Can U Get Away," he echoes similar respectful sentiments to black womynkind. This is probably Pac's most progressive issues-oriented release before he signed to Death Row and became a full-blown thug. --Dalton Higgins

1) Tupac's Message Lives On [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This was the first Tupac merchandise I bought. The lyrics to his songs speak about societal problems and enlightens us to the challenges and difficulties inherent in societal structures which ensures that some parts of the population remains enslaved to poverty despite efforts on their part to break free from its devastating effects. Tupac's work reminds us that we are all responsible for the world we create and is an inspiration that through our own efforts, however small, we can have a positive impact on the world in which we live.2) very good and lyrical album [Rating: 5 out of 5]
when i first heard this album, i was struck by the hearfelt lyrics, i just love this album period, one of the best hip hop albums to date3) Best Pac [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Classic Traccs 4,13,14,15 All Traccs Are Good4) Pac's First Classic [Rating: 5 out of 5]
2Pac has always been a visionary in his work but for the first time in his career, the production finally lived up to 2Pac's impeccable talent. This is not to say the two previous solo albums are not good but they just left something to be desired as an overall product. With "Me Against The World," the result is 2Pac's first classic LP.At the time of the release of this album, 2Pac became a very interesting figure. He was incarcerated and survived a brutal shooting. So it shouldn't be a surprise that this album is one of 2Pac's most introspective work. The album has a less violent tone and doesn't fully embrace the gangsta aesthetic but the album's central theme is death and paranoia; which is best exemplified by the song "Death Around The Corner." 2Pac poured his soul on this album: all his fears, ambitions and dreams. The album also contains some of 2Pac's best work; the heartfelt and tear jerker, "Dear Mama" that is a dedication to his mother; the pain and suffering of "So Many Tears"; and "Temptations," a song geered towards women.Fortunately, for the rest of 2Pac's career, he has received top-notch production. But what separates this album from the two that followed was the honesty that is delivered. Here, he sounds like a troubled man looking to change for the better compared to embracing the thug lifestyle that he personified with his days with Death Row Records. Regardless, this album is a classic and is worth your purchase. You would be glad you did.5) Pac's Very Best! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
2Pac made his best album with Me Against the World. He pours out a lot of emotion into this album and he really lets you feel the dark atmosphere that he felt surrounded by after being shot. 2Pac is the very best hip hop artist at getting to your emotions and this album does it better than any other.
