This fourth effort from the soft-rock-masquerading-as-country band Rascal Flatts moved more than 721,000 copies its first week out, which let the female-friendly trio rub elbows with some mighty heady company. Only four other country artists (Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks, and Tim McGraw) have rolled out numbers like that, and only 24 other acts total (including Eminem, 50 Cent, U2, and Coldplay). So what's the hook, besides Gary LeVox's wounded tenor and Joe Don Rooney's boy-band face? Clearly, it's the songs. Or it usually is. On Me and My Gang, "What Hurts the Most" is the one that'll end up on a tape loop in your head, though "Yes, I Do" memorably frames romantic yearning and regret with ersatz reggae rhythms, and the sexy "Cool Thing" does a slow burn. The problem? New producer Dann ("King of Excess") Huff bloats too many tunes with screaming, by-the-book guitars and general bombast. And despite his über success with Faith Hill and Keith Urban, Huff has never really understood what makes country, well... country. Instead, he insultingly works in a snippet of steel guitar and a couple of family lyrics--e.g., the melodramatic "Ellsworth" is meant to pull the heartstrings of anyone who's seen the cruelty of Alzheimer's--and thinks he's thrown Nashville a bone. Worse, "Backwards" boringly reworks that hoary ol' country joke "What do you get when you play a country song backwards?," the title song is a Big & Rich ripoff, and even God gets dragged in for a half-baked attempt at middle-America resonance ("He Ain't the Leavin' Kind"). C'mon now. Call these boys pop and be done with the pandering. Joe Don's famously photographed derrière got a fairer crack than this. --Alanna NashMore Rascal FlattsRascal FlattsMeltFeels Like Today

1) Rascal Flatts Sucks on their confusing versions of the CD   [Rating: 1 out of 5]
Sooo, who in the heck would have a normal CD with 13 songs, an "enhanced" CD with 13 songs and yet another version... "extra tracks" that has 14 songs on it? What the WTFO? Rascal Flatts should have at least changed the cover or the name of the CD depending on the version you "may" actually get. Me and My Gang CD should have been combined or something so there wasn't 3 different versions. Shame on them and the producers of the CD!! Time to warn everybody to avoid Rascal Flatts till the get their act together and not have THREE CD's with the same name and different material on them.

2) This CD is Great   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Wasn't a big fan until I bought this CD for 1 song. The whole thing is great.

3) One of my faves!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I got this cd for Christmas, along with a few others. This one has defintely been played the most (Except maybe my switchfoot cd) It's a great cd and all the songs are awesome. My favorite songs are Words I Couldn't Say, and Ellsworth. There's not a bad song on it and I'm surprised I haven't worn the cd out by now!

4) Thanks for making the choice easy   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I am using the song "My Wish" for the mother/son dance at my son's wedding. He is in the Marine Corps and along way from home and this song says what I want to say to him. Of course, I will probably be blubbering all the way through it! It is hard to pick things my son will like for the wedding when he is not here to give me his opinion but I want the wedding to be special and what he and his bride will want. This song made at least one of my choices easy. Thanks, Rascal Flatts!

5) love this CD   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
My husband gave this CD to our daughter, Kaylee, when she moved out and told her to listen to My Wish, what a great song...she cried..
