1) Amazon.com's Best of 2001
Nicole Kidman playing a singing prostitute? Ewan McGregor channeling the Police? If the soundtrack to director Baz Luhrmann's freakish musical Moulin Rouge has its way, we'll all be wearing corsets and swinging from the ceiling while the former Mrs. Tom Cruise becomes our favorite new pop sensation. As daring as Luhrmann himself, the compositions test Kidman--who could have easily used a league of backup singers and studio knob-twiddlers to hide her inexperience--and she actually passes. She's no Olivia Newton-John, but she capably mixes Madonna's "Material Girl" with "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" (which is as breathy as Marilyn would've wanted it to be) and goes full throttle on any medley thrown her way. Her cover of "One Day I'll Fly Away" is especially poignant given her much-publicized personal tragedies. Ewan, though, is a real star; his giggly schoolboy brogue morphs into a fun cradle for Paul McCartney's Wings as well as U2's Bono on "Elephant Love Medley." Beck's cover of David Bowie's "Diamond Dogs" is a hit waiting to happen, while Pattie LaBelle's '70s staple "Lady Marmalade" (remade by an all-star cast of divas, Lil' Kim and Christina Aguilera among them) already is. A delicious, racy soundtrack that is equal parts cabaret, glam rock, and trip-hop, Moulin Rouge doesn't disappoint. -Kristy Martin

1) Why buy a motion picture soundtrack if you don't like it... [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Of course I like this soundtrack. I enjoyed the music from the movie. This isn't a toaster oven so you should know if you like it or not before you purchase it. If your not sure then you may wish to check it out at the library.2) Cheaper than at Itunes [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I bought this product from a 3-rd party vendor. At 5.22 (total including shipping)it was cheaper than Itunes. All I really wanted was the 1st track to add to my playlist, but Itunes will not sell you the single only, so you have to purchase the full CD.Suprisingly, (and I've never seen the movie) there were quite a few tracks on here that were worth the extra $.3) Real soundtrack?? [Rating: 3 out of 5]
I LOVE Moulin Rouge...I really do. And, don't get me wrong, this is a fine cd. However, like many others, I was really disappointed to hear songs that were changed or re-recorded for the cd. My favorite part of any song is in El Tango de Roxanne, where Ewan McGregor sings "you're free to leave me but just don't deceive me..." the second time. However...this was cut from the song. It was a powerful moment people!!! Though, as far as the songs sung by the original cast goes, it was a fairly good album.4) MOULIN ROUGE MUSIC IS FOREVER [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Moulin Rouge! (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)A glorious, dazzling, colorful, funny and tragic movie musical. Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor are wonderful and the direction is over-the-top fabulous.Moulin Rouge! (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)5) moulin rouge [Rating: 5 out of 5]
