From his childhood on the family farm in rural Tuscany to the worldwide stage, Andrea Bocelli has achieved phenomenal success. His singing is only partially the point, and his fame owes much more to the aura of romance and the romantic archetype that's attached to him. Romanza is by far Bocelli's largest success, winning adoration thanks to the swooning vocals and the easy, sometimes lush, always pop-safe instrumental textures and melodies. As far as his opera chops go, Bocelli has won the approval of Pavarotti but likely will not wow enthusiasts. The upside is that Bocelli will likely grow the opera pie, convincing labels to take on more operatic projects. --Andrew Bartlett

1) AMAZING! Couldn't Stop Playing It!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
When I first bought this CD, I couldn't stop playing it! For days I did almost nothing but listen to this extraordinary voice singing these beautiful songs. After more than five years, I still listen to it often and am surprised to find that I love it every bit as much as when I first discovered it. This is the best of Boccelli's albums (although his concert at Lake Las Vegas is a close second). If you're new to classical music and wondering whether to buy this CD, don't worry about the label of "classical" ~ nearly every musical taste will greatly appreciate and enjoy this collection.

Who cares what the words mean? I can light a candle, pour a glass of wine, turn down the lights and I know Andrea Bocelli is singing to me from his soul. What more could I want?

this album is what many believe started it all for Andrea here in the States, though it is not his first album by far. It has his masterpiece ballad, Con Te Partiro, and that alone makes this album worth purchasing! A must have for your Bocelli collection!

Andrea Bocelli has a voice like no other. He can hypnotize you with his beautiful Italian love songs that he sings on this album. ROMANZA was my introduction to Andrea and I may have to purchase another CD in case I wear this one out. I've even decided to take up learning Italian because I find that language to be the most beautiful of all languages. Combine that beauty with the sexy, haunting music and glorious voice, and you have a absolute A++winner. If I were a guy, I'd definitely have this on hand for a romantic date or anniversary dinner.
