In 10 years, Steven Curtis Chapman has charted 26 No. 1 hits, three Grammy Awards, and 32 Dove Awards (Christian music's equivalent of the Grammys). This release offers some of Chapman's best work in addition to two newer singles, "Not Home Yet" and "I Am Found in You," and rerecordings of "Lord of the Dance" and "The Walk," from the brilliant Signs of Life release. The latter two, labeled "Abbey Road versions," sound live, with soulful harmonica and additional guitar work not heard on the originals. 1) Very Good Christian Light Rock [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Steven Curtis Chapman combines a very good light rock sound with great Christian lyrics. The combination is a big winner.Although I normally prefer a sound that is a bit harder, one cannot go wrong with this CD. His sound is very catchy and meaningful.My favorite song on this album is 'Not Home Yet' which is a reminder to Christians that this is not the final destination. There are several others that I enjoy a lot also. Some of my favorites include: The Great Adventure, For The Sake of The Call, Dive, and I Will Be Here.This is a good addition to any collection.2) Classic SCC [Rating: 5 out of 5]
My review is long overdue. This is one of my favorite CD's - and if you look at the back of my CD, it shows! What a talented song-writer and performer. The CD is packed with a great mix of some of his finest songs. Don't limit yourself to this CD alone - every project of his is worth adding to your collection. Great Cd! Love his music and his message. I plsy him alot snd he is very comforting and inspirational as well as hip and upbeat. If you have never listened to him, this is the one to start with.4) A "Home"run [Rating: 5 out of 5]
One of, if not THE, greatest CD that Chapman has ever compiled. There aren't any words for his songs. They hit "home" in ways indescribable. "Not Home Yet" will forever be my favorite SCC song; I based my entire high school valedictorian speech on it. By far one of my favorite CD's that I own. I'd recommend it to absolutely anybody.5) Great way to get introduced to SCC [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I really like Steven Curtis Chapman's songs. The music is very good guitar-driven rhythms and the lyrics are great. This Greatest Hits cd captures the best songs from the first half of his career (First Hand to Signs of Life). I wish it would have included "Let Us Pray" and "I Will Not Go Quietly", but other than that I found it to be a wonderful way to hear a lot of his songs. This CD is a great place to start you SCC collection; I'm sure Greatest Hits 2 is in the working to gather songs from his latest cds (Speechless, Declaration, All About Love, and All Things New). Now go out and get it! (I would have given it 4.5 stars but amazon does not allow that yet!)
