Editorial Reviews (supplied by Amazon.com):

1) Amazon.com essential recording
There's the requisite number of gorgeously melodic and deeply heartfelt songs here--the addictive "Sweet Surrender," the Hollywood-style ballad "I Love You," the sad, profound "Angel," the flat-out spectacular "Witness." McLachlan's not prolific, but this short, bittersweet album proves again that what she and producer Pierre Marchand do release is cut from the finest of cloth. --Jeff Bateman

1) BUILDING A MASTERPIECE   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Even though this album came out in August 1997 I still listen to it constantly and it never stops to amaze me what McLachlan achieved on this set. The melodies, the sometimes complex lyrics and especially her beautiful voice are the main ingredients in this amazing collection of love songs. When I listen to the song ¨Angel¨ (featured in the movie City of Angels) sometimes I feel like an angel is whispering in my ear those magical lyrics to me. ¨Building a mystery¨and ¨Sweet Surrender¨also stand out in an album that is unforgettable. Don`t think she will ever be able to duplicate what she did here but I will continue to check her new music.

2) Fabulous CD   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This CD is so incredible, I LOVE every song on it. It is relaxing beautiful music that I just love to listen to. I would recommend this for any Sarah Mclachlan fan or for someone looking for great music.

3) Amazing!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
All I'm going to say is this, beautiful voice, beautiful songs, beautiful women. Sara sure knows how to write and sing songs that really grip you. Her voice as amazing as it is, is almost haunting at times which is truly a gift from above. Well done Sara!!

4) Awesome!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I love Sarah McLachlan, and this album is so amazing. It has all the big hits.."angel", "building a mystery", "adia", and "sweet surrender". Her voice is so awesome! So unique, well-tuned, and heart-felt. I have to stop myself from crying every time i hear "angel". Her voice and style is that amazing...no one like her. You go girl!

5) Voice of an Angel   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I heard "ANGEL" on a TV show and looked up who was singing. Ordered CD at once. She has that pure, haunting, standing alone on a bit of rock by the sea, quality to her voice. Must be my bit of Irish blood that responds to this siren like voice.Beautiful.
