Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda steps out for a wall-to-wall hip-hop project on which he faces his critics ("High Road"), gets autobiographical ("Remember the Name"), shares family history ("Kenji") and emerges as a hip-hop reformist ("Cigarette"). Standing shoulder to shoulder with, among others, John Legend, members of The Roots and Styles of Beyond, The Rising Tied shines brightest in its earliest moments, where the beats and rhymes feel and sound freshest and where the positive message feels most sincere. A limited edition includes two documentary footage that follows the album's evolution, and Shinoda during the making of the video for "Petrified," all of which ultimately provides fans with interesting insights into the album and the artist himself. --Jedd Beaudoin2) Album Description
Fort Minor, the side project and solo debut for Mike Shinoda of multiplatinum, Grammy-winning Linkin Park, returns the emcee to his roots-making hip-hop. The Rising Tied, produced by Shinoda, who wrote every track and played nearly every instrument was executive produced by Jay-Z. Featuring guest appearances from Common, the Roots Black Thought, John Legend, Linkin Park DJ Joe Hahn, alt-funk rocker Kenna and two acts signed to Linkin Park's Machine Shop Recordings, Style of Beyond and Holly Brook, The Rising Tied raises the standard for unique, unadulterated hip-hop.

1) The truth in words [Rating: 5 out of 5]
While rappers and or MC's for the most part in hiphop and such preach about lustful images, money or violence...Mike takes it to the early 90's where its all about the flow...whereas he is not the greatest mc in the world he is decent enough to make you bump your head to his songs...he also adds more to an album then said average rappers...kenji is a prime example...history through lyrical flow...its a concept most if not all rappers lack...hence being rappers and not MC's....as KRS-One once said a rapper can flow and make peoples heads bump...an MC can take you there and MAKE you feel his lyrics beats and other such things all while doing exactly what a rapper can do... The Rising Tied is well worth getting if your a fan of flows and beats...if you're just out for something popular well its still good2) Mike Shinoda takes it to another level [Rating: 5 out of 5]
In this album described as a "big big sound" by Jay-z (Shawn Carter) Mike Shinoda has incredible beats mixed with amazing lyrics that will capture your heart.I must point out Mike Shinoda show his true love of music by releasing Petrfied and Remember the Name as 100% Free Distribute content and he also released all the tracks to many of the songs to allow his fan to experiment with the beat and make their own and submit themI must say their is not one song I do not like on this album and I must mention my favorite 2 songs In Stereo and one that not even on this album and was released exclusive to the fan club Tools of the Trade. In Tools of the Trade he takes random things in his kitchen he finds at home (while drunk) and makes an incredible song thens spits some rhymes. In the hit single Where'd You Holly Brooks Amazing voice is shared. And In Kenji Mike shares his families stories of strugglesI encourage to buy this album and check out the many other songs mike has floating around because there are many different remixes done by mike and fans and djs and special releases and it just sad the album ends3) Fort Minor! [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Fort Minor, at first listen, come across as just another Linkin Park. Thanks to Mike Shinoda, of linkin park fame, being the lead vocalist in Fort Minor. But after listening to the whole album, i was certainly wrong. This is a great album, full of new and exciting tracks...and it most certainly does not sound like another Linkin Park :)4) nice one shinoda! [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I admit, I bought this album thinking there was going to be a linkin vibe kind of revamp ( a bit like that album where they collaborated with many great hip hop artists) and was a bit weary of the whole thing, but then again im glad i bought this cd.I dont particularly like Shinoda's style but he definatly has put his end into this project. My only beef is the production is not what you would expect of a typical hip hop album, almost electronicesque feel with the sub's and kicks but then again i guess that's the linkin park feel or influence, it grows on you. Not the greatest album but something I will listen to every now and then. I am really impressed with Shinoda's effort and cant wait to hear if fort minor puts out another album to see the growth and change from this one. Onto something good here... dont let it slip!5) No Linkin Park, but suprisingly good [Rating: 4 out of 5]
No Linkin Park, but suprisingly good. Some really catchy songs.
