Editorial Reviews (supplied by Amazon.com):
1) From Amazon.co.uk
Despite the photographic presence of an acoustic guitar (the rock & roll equivalent of a rubber bullet), the enviably lovely hair and the unassuming knitwear, Sheryl Crow is staring back at us from the cover of The Very Best Of with her chin resting on a fist clenched tightly with white-knuckled defiance. This is, after all, the girl whose wishful thinking led her to sing "All I wanna do is have some fun" while privately preferring to either curl up in bed for a very long time or roll over and die (she's recently come out of the closet with regards to her longstanding battles with depression).Yes, she's earned herself an armful of Grammys and has been damned with faint praise, but if you go easy on the relatively troublesome second half of Sheryl Crow's 10-year solo career (the poppy optimism of songs like "C'mon C'mon" and "Soak Up the Sun" seems strained), then this decade-acknowledging resumé serves as a reminder of her narrative talents for summarising the pitfalls of burdensome workloads ("Everyday Is a Winding Road") and problematic squeezes ("My Favorite Mistake") within an MTV-friendly pop framework. --Kevin Maidment

Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5
1) Should have been better [Rating: 3 out of 5]
The only reason to own this CD is for her rendition of "The first cut is the deepest"Absolutely amazing. They left too many other great songs from her career only to include such songs like a duet with Kid Rock (which wasn't even her record)Too bad considering the wealth on material that is available on her CD's2) Drop the new and add a couple of the old. [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Honestly, I felt that her version of First Cut is the Deepest was rather weak. But this is still a good collection. Instead of two versions of that song I would have used her fun but often whined about cover of Sweet Child of Mine and the version of Safe & Sound that was on the America: A Tribute To Heroes release.3) Amazing collection of work! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This is one of those c.d's that you can listen to from start to finish because there are no bad songs that need to be skipped over! It is a great sing along, happy c.d. Everyone should have this in their music collection!4) great CD to uplift/energize you [Rating: 5 out of 5]
When I have to work around the house (clean or whatever) I put on this CD. Time passes quickly and the upbeat music keeps me energized. I really like most of the songs on this CD. There may be one track where I think she hits flat notes (Leaving Las Vegas), but most of the songs she sounds great. I didn't know I was a fan until I bought this CD. (I'm a 44 female)5) If you are going to buy a Sheryl Crow CD, this is the one to get! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This particular "Best of" Sheryl Crow is one of my favorite selections of music to listen to on my drive home at night from work. I live in PA which has more deer running around than any other place on earth so when I am not dodging deer who stop in the middle of the road to play chicken with you, I listen to this CD to calm my nerves from just missing a 300 pound buck and his entourage that had assembled in the middle of the highway to sing camp fire songs or something. Anywho, if you like Sheryl Crow, you like this Best of Sheryl Crow. Russ Hambones from PA
