1) Backward Siren Song [Rating: 4 out of 5]
Upon releasing "The Weak's End" in 2004, Emery led a genre which was confused with the intelligent progressive leanings of coheed and cambria and the catchy pop fusings of fall out boy into the sonically pleasing middle ground-intelligent progressive pop. Some, however consider the band, who by the release of 2005's "The Question" and 2007's "I'm Only A Man" to have abandoned some of the emotive moments of their earlier style, drawing from bands such as mineral or sunny day real estate, and left them for radio rock driven safety. Whatever you think of these later albums, "The Weak's End" will forever be an important snapshot of the genre at the time, and an excellent release that resounded with many trying to find a particular home in the ever changing music scene.2) screaming to the top [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Been seeing a lotta folks and them talking about Emery. But i didnt have a clue about them or what they were really about. So after seeing it recommended to me by other people and amazon. I finally decided to break down and purchase "The Weak's End". Lets just say i'm glad that i did make that choice. Love it, normally i'm not really down with nor do i enjoy a whole lotta screaming in my music. But with these guys i actually enjoy it especially with songs like "The Secret", "Under Serious Attack" and "Walls". I'm liking them more and more with each listen to this cd. A worthy addition to my or anybody else's cd collection. So make that purchase if your on the fence about this band. You'll realize exactly what i'm talking about.3) Great Album [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I really like this cd a lot and I am looking forward to seeing them live.4) The Secret... [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Emery is a great band! No joke about it. Good lrics and great music. Since it is a matter of taste, I can't force anyone to buy it. But I highly recomend it. Other bands I like are: mewithoutyou, blindside, further seems forever... if you have similar taste buy EMERY!!!5) "Sometimes it gets so hard to breathe." [Rating: 4 out of 5]
This was the first album by an artist on the Tooth and Nail label I bought. I saw a commercial for the label which featured Emery, Underoath, and Dead Poetic. I decided to pick this up, and at this point, I own seven Tooth and Nail releases. Some have been great, and others have been kind of bad. This one qualifies as a simple "good."One of my friends started listening to it and stopped after a couple of songs, which was disappointing. He said so much music was either catchy, original, or well-performed that he could only listen to bands that had a combination. I understand his position. He's not generally a fan of emo or punk and Emery does sort of come off like just an average member of the genre. Although I think they really do branch off into more original and emotionally invested songwriting, it just so happens he didn't listen that far."Walls" is a standard screamo punk single, except for some reason, I find that I enjoy every moment of it much more than the average song. It just works for me. "Fractions" is one of the better songs for showing off Emery's penchant for multi-layered vocals between the two singers and non-traditional music. The band is sort of like alternative emo. "The Secret" has grown over time to be one of my favorite slow building, softer punk ballads that crescendos into a heartfelt, affecting, loud climax at the end, and it's an excellent way to end The Weak's End.The rest of album is more good, well sung, and in my view original emo songs. Emery has separated themselves in sort of the same way as Brand New as a band in the genre that avoids jumping into the same patterns that so many other bands do these days. I seriously recommend a listen.
