1) =D [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the three best CDs in the world!!!! i recommend 3 Cheers for almost everyone!!! But of course, I'm a huge MCR fan, so how can I not recommend it! :] If you get this, make sure you get Bullets and TBP. My favorite song off this album at the moment would have to be It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's a F**cking Deathwish.2) Better Living Through Chemistry [Rating: 4 out of 5]
The second (and breakthrough) CD from My Chemical Romance advances the cause for all comic-book geeks with guitars. Rich in exaggerated imagery and dense, sludgy sound, Gerard Way and the guys created a tableau of music that was both loud/fast rock and slickly catchy. There were many who tried to pigeon-hole the band, but there was just no way. For every Goth image like "The Ghost of You," there was a pop-song counterpunch like "I'm Not Okay" or "Helena."This is a band that had obviously spent far too much time with their noses buried in comic books, movie theaters and ears glued to classic rock stations. Pink Floyd and Queen collide with Green Day and Radiohead. Lead guitars burn bright as the melodies cruise across the top...and the band barely lets up on the gas through "Three Cheers'" 13 tracks. The cinematic lyrics ("In the middle of a gunfight, in the center of a restaurant" opens "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison") often explode out from the frantic songs in a manner that makes them stick even though they rip past you at hyperspeed. "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" was the sound of a band getting better really fast. Gerard Way conquered addictions after this record and tightened his creative grip even more by the time The Black Parade was ready to be created. That album has the nuance this lacked and is the better CD because of it, but "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" is still one of the decade's better coming of age albums.3) Almost speechless [Rating: 5 out of 5]
This has to be my most favorite album. Everytime I hear it, I become more and more awestruck. The horror rich theme and goulish lyrics are a fantastic compliment to the sharp, violent melodies. Each song has an underlining of sadness. I could listen to a song with a smile on my face, yet still feel like crying. It's just so good. MCR is in a class by themselves. No one else compares. Three cheers and five stars for this amazing album and amazing band.4) Outstanding! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
Call them a scream band. An emo band. Call them anything you'd like. Just don't call them late for the party. MCR is truly a cut above all the other emo-yeller bands such as Taking Back Sundays and Hot Hot Heat. The Three Cheers and Black Parade (except for the droning title track) CDs make for a combination that will stoke any party or yeast&hops function. MCR may be maligned as one-offs with Tiger Beat posters lining the walls of Lizzie McGuire tweens across the Heartland, but based on pure guitar rock with emotive excellence, MCR rule the roost. It's no wonder Rolling Stone magazine voted The Black Parade as #20 album of 2006. And the major label debut here, TYhree Cheers for Sweet Revenge, is the foundation that gets the party started. Lethal, Helena. A must.5) Amazing! [Rating: 5 out of 5]
I think that this is the best album that My Chemical Romance has made by far. It so outweights the latest album Black Parade. Any music that just makes me sing aloud in a office full of people has my vote.
