When the most exciting producer in pop music himself puts out a CD, the thrill is in the discovery: The world may have already suspected that Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, and a small army of other singers owed 75% of their fame to the stockpile of skittering beats Timbaland built and then graciously set them upon, but here's a chance to prove it. Or it might have been in less welcoming hands. Shock Value is a far-reaching and ambitious disc; a masterpiece, even, in its own way. But it's not at all self-centered. If there's a point being put across here, it's that Timbaland came by your vote as behind-the-scenes musical man of the hour honestly: pair him with Fall Out Boy or the Strokes, and he will not only provide tracks that surprise you by maintaining their rock 'n' roll integrity, he will also convince you that shimmer's role in rock music has, to now, been tragically misguided and miniscule. Re-team him with Timberlake and Furtado (for the near-flawless track "Give It to Me") and he will again trade vocal bites, but they will still be nibbly, not voracious. In a CD full of experiments and puzzles (why is Elton John just piano-playing, not singing? And how did the L.A. band One Republic end up on this disc?) a single truth emerges: Timbaland's taste is impeccable, but his judgment is even better. Shock Value, by virtue of its swirly beats and mesmerizing rhythms, will bring him a smidge closer to the spotlight. But because it's a disc of collaborations, he'll retain the shadowy-genius reputation that precedes him, and that he so richly deserves. --Tammy La Gorce

1) Earthquake   [Rating: 3 out of 5]
Starting off with a old negro spiritual feel, "Oh Timbaland" kicks this LP off. Highlighted by the drum patterns and arrangements clearly does not need any introduction. "Give It To Me" featuring Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake is a dance tune with a mainstream appeal followed by "Release" featuring Justin Timberlake to keep the dance floor filled. Pulsating kick drum with space aged keys on "The Way I Are" featuring Keri Hilson & D.O.E. explaining being yourself and you can't buy love. Dragging keys over a slow tempo track "Bounce" featuring Dr. Dre, Missy Elliot & Justin Timberlake stays on course with the album concept and title. The harmonizing "Come And Get Me" featuring 50 Cent & Tony Tayo is the roughest track with a West Coast gangster feel with the piano chords similar to a Dr. Dre track. "Boardmeeting" featuring Magoo is a dramatic tune with its stomping and clapping effects adding to Timbaland's vocals. The sexual subject of "Fantasy" featuring Money produced by Walter Milsap III & co-produced by Boss Beats is bound to seduce the gentlemen listening. "Miscommunication" featuring Keri Hilson & Sebastian with the high pitched synthesizer keys complemented the performance with simplicity. The semi-rock track with multi-layered guitars on "Throw It On Me" featuring The Hives is a great addition to the album as well as "Time" featuring She Wants Revenge. "One And Only" featuring Fallout Boy is strong addition that cross genres with the bridge for a perfect blend. Taking pop and adding untraditional drum patterns on "Apologize" featuring One Republic is the highlight of Shock Value because of just that. Closing with "2 Man Show" featuring Elton John is a well orchastrated tune that could have been a bigger conclusion if Elton would have blessed it with some vocals. Where producers now take on multiple roles sometimes the features outshine the artist. Timbaland's Shock Value showcases more his talents of a producer where here is timeless material included. Don't miss out on the surprise.

2) Love This   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I really likes this CD. i bought it for The song Apologize by One Republic, but I ended up really liking the entire CD. Its a good CD to listen to on the way to work, or wherever. It gets u pumped, and makes u happy, also almost all the songs are great.

3) TIMBALAND PRESENTS SHOCK VALUE BY TIMBALAND ALBUM CD   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
THIS ALBUM CD BY TIMBALAND IS EXCELLENT FROM THE STANDPOINT OF THE ONE SONG ON IT FEATURING ONE REPUBLIC'S APOLOGIZE. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS ALBUM CD TO ANYONE WHO ESPECIALLY LIKES ONE REPUBLIC AS A GROUP.

4) A Good Variety From Timbaland   [Rating: 4 out of 5]
I thoroughly enjoyed Timbaland's CD "Timbaland Presents Shock Value". He includes a wide variety of songs and artists, most of which have a great sound. I have a couple songs that I particularly like from the CD, while my roommate has another song that he really likes and my girlfriend has a different song that she really likes. There are a few songs (1 or 2) that I think are a little strange and don't really enjoy listening to. I also thought that there could be a little more vocals from Timbaland on the CD. However, I recommend that you purchase this CD.

5) When Timbo is in the party, put up your hands!   [Rating: 5 out of 5]
What can I say, except that Timbaland is the best? While his genius has been proven in the past, this collection best showcases his versatility. Timbaland gathers here a wide range of artists and showcases them to their best. The future of hip-hop lies with Timabaland and we should be grateful for that. He has diversified the genre with "Apologize", a remixing of the One Republic song the best example. In fact, it was Timbaland that brought that song to popularity. Best of all, Timbaland is saving the reputation of hip-hop. There is no disrespecting of women here. On the contrary, he is an exemplary gentleman as proven in "The Way I Are". Another gem in the album is "Give it to Me", in which he comes down on Scott Storch and his merry men for "talking greasy". All in all, a masterpiece of an album by one of music's greatest giants. A must have CD. I hope they soon release a DVD of this, with all the music videos.
