If you feel that your campus bookstore is overcharging, why not search for the textbooks online? In addition, you should also try CourseSmart’s Textbooks application that will grant you access to more than 7,000 digital textbooks from your iPhone.

Cram. This is a great application when preparing for a test, especially if you work in groups. Users can create multiple choice tests (with the answers being automatically randomized) that they can share among them. This application can be synced to the Mac OS version so you can work both at home and when you are away from your computer. If the $6.99 price tag seems a little too spicy, try StudyBlue, a free, similar flash card creating application.

Dictionary.com. This is probably the application your are likely to use most when writing paper or reading texts for school. Providing free and full access to Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com, this application is a must have for all students with an iPhone.

Evernote. If you are planning the use of the iPhone as a means to take notes while in class, this is the application you should be going for. This application is completely free, can work with text, voice notes and photos and is also able to sync to an internet account so you can access your notes from everywhere.

Istudiez Pro. If you have a complicated schedule, try this application. You can assign various color codes for each class and add assignments for each course. These assignments will show up in the calendar when they are due. It’s a very nice, complex but easy to use application that you can buy for $2.99.

Mint.com. When buying various materials for school, use this free application to keep track of how much you have spent and how much more you budget can take.

myHomework. If you want to centralize all your homework and view when they are due in a visual impressive, color coded way, myHomework is a free application that will suit your needs perfectly. It is not complex, but it can handle the homework organizing job well.

P183 Graphing Calculator. If you are looking for a graphic calculator application why not try this virtual Texas Instruments T183 on your iPhone. It costs only $0.99 and brings a lot more to the table than the price might say.

SimpleMind. Mapping you mind is not as complicated as it sounds. In fact, you can even do it with your iPhone. It’s really tough to explain how cool and useful this application is, so you should give the free version a try. The pay version costs $6.99 and will allow you to export the mind maps in PDF, PNG, Freemind and OMPL file formats (only the SimpleMind format being available in the free version). Other similar applications are iThoughts and iBlueSky.

Wikipedia. The official Wikipedia application launched in July and provides quick and optimized access to Wikipedia from your iPhone. It is not recommended to quote or rely only on Wikipedia when writing a paper, but it is a great place to start.
