Create The Perfect Home Environment For Online Classes
Make sure you’re set up for success if you’re taking your studies this semester to the confines of your comforter. Here’s what you’ll need to make the best of your BU (Bedroom University) situation.
A Good Router
No one needs a lagging interwebs as soon as their online class starts. And you really don’t need to waste time yelling at a page that’s not loading when trying to crank out your first paper. Make sure your internet is fully functional before the semester starts and that your router is up to par. This may mean upgrading an older router provided to you by your cable or internet company if financially possible.
Follow the Swede’s lead and create the most comfortable living environment possible because you’re probably going to be spending a lot of time in the same space. Whether it be candles & tea lights, pillows, blankets or fans and air purifiers, try to make your space a place you would be too comfy to leave even if you didn’t have to sit there for hours studying.
These come in such compact sizes now, there just isn’t any reason not to turn your home or bedroom into your favorite coffee shop. Add a cup & saucer and a Starbucks playlist on Spotify to really strike that working from a cafe note.
And if you really want to step it up, buy an electric frother. I like to dump some water in mine with a little matcha powder, warm it, pour in a mug, then add some milk to the frother, froth it up and plop that on top of my matcha tea. Voila, a perfect matcha latte. You’re welcome.
Folders and Organizers
You’ll want to make sure you stay organized, for sanity-sake, especially if your study space is also your laundry room, your cafeteria, your sleep space and your gym. Staying organized never hurt anyone’s grades either.
Printer, Scanner, Microphones, Video Cameras, you’re probably going to need it all. Colleges require a plethora of documents, so you’ll be safe with a printer that also scans. It will also help when it comes time to sell your textbooks back and need mailing labels printed. Being able to see and hear your classmates and professor (and vice versa) is also great, so make sure you have a microphone and camera set up and that they are both functioning correctly before your classes start.
This should have been at the top of the list, but we like to believe our readers are the kind that already know they should have a computer. At the same time we also believe that we should never over-estimate or under-estimate anyone. We are all unique and that’s just great. Now get yourself a computer if you don’t already have one.
